--- tags: Content date: 2022-10-15 title: Announcing conda.org, a conda community website tease: --- # Announcing conda.org, a conda community website *Note: Dave C proposes having the page title be in the page metadata, rather than in the page text. It appears here because HackMD requires it.* # Meta: This will be the top (and possibly only?) news item on the site when it launches. This gives us an example to work out what sort of metadata we should have for each news item: Suggested metadata * `date` * Date published * Format: YYYY-MM-DD * Should we also support an `updated` field? * `title` * Title to show in the index page. * Could also become the page/tab title in the browser. * Would also be rendered at the top of this page. * `tease` * Short summary of page to show in the news index page. * Could also pull this from the page text... * `tags` * Within HackMD (where we are now), we use this item to tell HackMD how to group this page. * Within the website we could use this to tag the content, or event that this post is a `news` item. So here's what that might look like for this announcement, followed by text. ``` --- tags: news (maybe) date: 2022-11-15 title: Announcing conda.org, the conda community website tease: A place to find (and post) all things conda. --- ``` We are pleased to announce that the conda community now has a website to link together all things related to the conda ecosystem. [conda.org](/) aims to be where people go to find news and links to resources that help them use and contribute to the conda ecosystem. This website features content such as * **[Community news](/news/)** - News of interst to the wider conda community. * **[Events](/events/)** - a directory of upcoming and recent conda related events and trainings. * **[Blog](/blog)** - blog posts of interest to the community * Links to **support channels and other conda-related resources** for users, package builders, and ecosystem developers. * **[Governance](/gov/)** - How is the conda Organization structured, how are our decisions made, and what is our code of conduct? The site also has a unified web search that searches all known conda-related websites and returns the results in a unified format. ### This website is brought to you by... **You, the conda community.** Content can be contributed by anyone, and it easy to contribute. The site provides easy-to-use forms for submitting common types of content such as events, news items, and blog posts. Updates of any kind can be submitted, by anyone, as pull requests in GitHub. This site is *shepherded* by the [conda.org Team](https://github.com/orgs/conda-incubator/teams/conda-dot-org/members). We manage pull requests, form submissions, and the overall implementation and look and feel of the site. Welcome to the conda community website, The conda.org team
