# Internal - Python for Sci Comp 2024 :::success ## Goal for June 2024 Agree on the days and a few names for instructors ::: ## Days Please vote which one you prefer, or write if you cannot be there. No vote -> both are equally good - Tue 10 + Wed 11 + Thu 12 / December - RD on holiday - OK for RB but not great (I might be in inconvenient time zone) - works for Gregor Decristoforo (UiT) + Jørn Dietze (UiT) - works for ENCCS - works for DI (UU) - Tue 5 + Wed 6 + Thu 7 / November - good for RB - works for Gregor Decristoforo (UiT) + Jørn Dietze (UiT) - Not so applicable to ENCCS as there is a bootcamp from Nov. 4 to 8 - If this is the final date for the workshop, YW can co-teach 1-2 episodes depending on the arrangment of the scheduled bootcamp - works for DI (UU) - ... ## Format **Old format:** https://scicomp.aalto.fi/training/scip/python-for-scicomp-2023/ Tue+Wed+Thu+Fri, 3h/day **New format:** Tue+Wed+Thu, 4h/day with a 1h lunch break in between. **Advantages of new format:** - less mental work for instructors, streamers, etc since it's only 3 days instead of 4 - no need to split the pandas lesson over two days (this has been a critique in the past) - less risk that people stop coming on day 4 Disadvantages: - ? ## People involved and roles *If your name is here below, you will get more emails from Enrico.* - Enrico Glerean (EG): coordinator, registration, communication with participants, teaching wherever needed - Samantha Wittke (SW) - Radovan Bast (RB): I would like to teach a dataviz lesson but at the same time I would like to change it to vega-altair which interfaces nicer with Pandas than matplotlib does. Happy to teach more lessons than just that one or other lessons. I like the suggestion to reduce to 3 days and to have a lunch break. - Yonglei Wang (YW): I would like to teach 1-2 episodes and will decide the detailed teaching contents later. - Johan Hellsvik (JH): I would like to teach one or possibly two episodes. - Dhanya Pushpadas (DP): I would like to co-teach one/two episodes and do outreach - Gregor Decristoforo (GD): could prepare a lecture on xarray and co-teach other episodes if needed - gregor.decristoforo@uit.no - Jørn Dietze (JD): could also teach one or two episodes - jorn.dietze@uit.no - Diana Iusan (DI): I could possibly teach one of the lessons; advertise to SE participants - Aurélie Vancraeyenest (AV): I could co-teach couple of episodes (not sure yet which ones as I am not yet familiar with the course) ## Any other comment Please add here
