# Newsletter - December 2024
Subject: CodeRefinery newsletter Dec 2024
dear CodeRefinery community!
In this newsletter we wish to summarize few updates since our last newsletter in August.
You can request CodeRefinery goodies (stickers, patches, and more) and we also have a short slide deck about the project to make it easier to make your colleagues and communities aware of what we do:
- https://coderefinery.org/about/presentations/
We participated in a number of events:
- Train-the-trainer workshop: https://coderefinery.github.io/train-the-trainer/
- CodeRefinery September workshop: https://coderefinery.github.io/2024-09-10-workshop/
- Build Systems Course and Hackathon: https://github.com/PDC-support/build-systems-course
- Python for Scientific Computing workshop: https://www.aalto.fi/en/events/python-for-scientific-computing-5-7november2024
- Enabling Reproducibility through Research Code (organized by RSSE Africa and RSE Asia): https://rsse.africa/events-rsse-africa/2024-11-14/
Plans for 2025:
- We have started preparing the CodeRefinery spring workshop which will likely take place end of March/ beginning of April 2025. We will notify on this newsletter once we have concrete dates.
- We are working on a follow-up funding phase for CodeRefinery so that we can continue providing our training events.
- We are working on a long-term solution for our GitLab service which will probably be taken up by one of the CodeRefinery partner organizations.
We have restarted monthly topical open-house events to make it easier for project members to allocate and reserve half a day each month for focused collaborative work, but also to make it easier to involve volunteers and to create new collaborations.
The next planned sessions:
- 2024-12-17 Workshop format for reproducible research topics (CodeRefinery workshop week 2)
- 2025-01-14 Lesson development towards intermediate/advanced Git ("Git masterclass")
- 2025-02-11 New instructor onboarding and lesson material development
Help us spread the word and give feedback by becoming an ambassador!
Thank you!
On behalf of CodeRefinery, Samantha and Radovan
