--- tags: meeting notes title: Community discussion planning --- # Community discussion/Onboarding planning :::info 14.06.21 attendees: Richard, Radovan, Naoe, Luca, Samantha ::: ## Onboarding - most interesting when next event is upcoming ## Will community call and onboarding be the same thing? - community call will happen every 2 weeks - onboarding can happen at the same time. probably most relevant before next training events. - I think it might be good to have onboarding after "big" events, as those give visibility. Something like "if you liked this workshop and you would like to get involved, visit us next week /in two weeks when we will give an overview of what we are doing and how you could get involved. - plan onboarding events as part of the workshop planning ## What topics would be of public interest? - how to join as instructor or EL - how to combine similar teaching efforts - when reusing material, telling how it went - Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions for people who might be interested but aren't sure yet and would like to "taste the ground" first ## Community discussion - idea from an Aalto event: everybody says what their goals are for them and for the team - better for new people to join these than 'boring administrative tasks' (what is usually in CR team meeting) - each community call can have a theme --- ## Conclusions from today - "onboarding" sounds formal and like people will end up with more work - "ask me anything" can be more welcoming than "onboarding" - we call it community call/ ask me anything -> 23rd Aug. 12-13 CEST / 13-14 EEST - exercise leaders invited for feedback? -> 9th Aug. 12-13 CEST / 13-14 EEST ## Action points - announce twitter (Naoe) - [Tweet PR for "Ask Me Anything"](https://github.com/coderefinery/coderefinery-twitter/pull/15) - [Tweet about the feedback session](https://twitter.com/coderefine/status/1405883970022223876) - on website announce these calls and briefly mention what this is about and give example topics we plan to talk about and connection details (Radovan) - create zoom room (Radovan) - prepare lightweight hackmd/agenda (Samantha) - inform all ELs about this (that they can join august 9) (Samantha) - inform past ELs and at the same time send them certificates (Radovan)
