# Caitlyn Chen Interview ### 5/17/2020 **Course:** iOS **University:** Columbia University ### Personal Questions *Tell me about yourself.* - was looking online for a bunch of tech programs - found codepath on a Facebook page - that was how she first learned about CodePath - was super interested in doing more projects - especially in mobile dev - school mostly has web dev - CS major - rising junior - freshman year bounced from chem e to applied math to CS - over last summer had internships in finance - group project was the favorite part bc learned the most - event planning chair for asian american heritage club on campus - now involved in virtual club to bring community together of students since everything *Why do you want to apply as a Tech Fellow?* - Bc the lack of iOS dev resources currently available on campus - not really any resources or workshops that teach iOS dev - The different programs offered at CodePath drew her into CodePath *What skills do you have that would contribute as a Tech Fellow? Prior experiences?* - Really good at organizing and coordinating with people and getting them to be on trakc - virtual club she is organizer and front end dev - she constantly organizes meetings - keeps meeting notes - she loves making presentations and has a good sense of humor and feels like she can bring good presentations - has a strong sense of communication - still working on public speaking *What does it take to build a good community in the classroom?* - maintain a very open atmosphere - build a safe space - be approachable - make yourself super friendly and super approachable - make sure people feel comfortable to ask Qs - How can we help you effectively do live coding sessions? - over summer wants to go back and do labs so when time comes for live coding sessions can feel comfortable - over summer wants to revisit older assignments - Public speaking training sessions would be super helpful *What skills do you want to build/improve on?
