# Nada El-Zaini Interview ### May 17 2020 **Course:** iOS **University:** San Jose State University ### Personal Questions *Tell me about yourself.* - Senior year - graduating May 2021 - ever since started coding been exploring many different fields - really liked iOS dev and coding in swift after taking CP - loves teaching and sharing knowledge - this role would really help combine her interests and passions - really into mobile dev - Always been really interested in technology since was a kid - was also good at math bc liked solving problems and ever since first CS class became pretty obsessed - Did some basic uDemy course apps on iOS before CP - nothing too crazy *Why do you want to apply as a Tech Fellow?* - Saw how her TFs were really motivated and passionate about teaching and guiding the class - likes having the responsibility of organizing and being in charge of getting something done - also really wants to be able to inspire people and hopefully share something that someone didn't know and help feeling *What skills do you have that would contribute as a Tech Fellow? Prior experiences?* - Worked before as a product advisor at the Microsoft store - did some workshops where she taught people how to use Excel and some coding workshops - did a lot of one on one trainings where taugh people about microsoft products - Prior programming knowledge - Has well rounded experience in talking to people *What does it take to build a good community in the classroom?* - Being honest and giving honest feedback helps - from her exp. - profs haven't always given good in depth feedback on a project - feels like giving thoughtful feedback helps build relationship of instructor and student - Just being yourself is an important attribute *What skills do you want to build/improve on? (technical/non-technical)* - As a student always likes when teacher is going through walkthrough step-by-step - being able to demonstrate how the student will do it will help her - often times when teaching its easy to become theoretical - live coding session would be good bc could demonstrate how things work and explain what is being done in each step - would want improvement on the syntax and being able to explain more of what's happening in the Swift code - better programming knowledge about the *What would you improve in CodePath?* - Going over swift fundimantals - sometimes in the class would notice some people would fall behind and some people would be on track - some people had trouble bc their version of xcode and their skills - would want to have a better way to gauge that everyone is on track and following a good pace ### Live Demo Applicants should present their favorite tool that they used from the previous course that they've taken with.
