You will join the main Zoom session and soon be broken up into other designated Zoom sessions where you will be presenting among other 7 - 9 groups. 1. Each group has: - **3 minutes** to present their app - the order of the groups will be based on the Group RSVP Form that is also linked at the top - **2 min** for Q/A from other people 1. Host Guru/TA will private message (**on Zoom Chat**) lead presenter of the upcoming group to ensure that the person is ready and paying attention 1. Once the Lead Presenter responds to Guru/TA, Guru/TA will unmute that presenter and their teammates 1. The host will call upon the following group lead to share their screen and begin presenting 1. Once the Lead Presenter begins sharing the screen, the host will begin a 3-minute timer 1. The host will send a chat warning to the Presenting Group when there is 1 minute left 1. The host will begin the same process with the upcoming group and confirm they are ready to present and paying attention 1. Once your session ends, you will come back to the main session to cast your votes and determine the finalists. ### Final Rounds 1. We will announce finalists at the beginning of the Finalists session 2. CodePath will be introducing the teams and our organization to professional/corporate guests 3. You will be presenting in front of professional engineers + CodePath staff 4. Each group has: - **3 minutes** to present their app - the order of the groups will be based on the Group RSVP Form that is also linked at the top 5. Same protocols as preliminary rounds - The host will message you to make sure you are ready to present and call you up ***Groups need to know which group goes before them so they could respond promptly to the Guru and transition to their presentation efficiently*** * ⚠️ Order of presentations will be shared the day of Demo Day ***If the lead presenter is not paying attention, Guru/TA will PM other people in the group at random so make sure you are all paying attention even if you are not the lead presenter*** ## Presentation/Pitch Decks #### Presentation Suggestions ==__Suggestion 1:__== - 3 slide pitch deck - Each slide contains GIFs of their apps core features - *Keep the text in the slides very brief!* - Lead Presenter has deck ready as soon as Demo Day begins - Go through slides and discuss core features and maybe technologies used to implement - **Slides Arrangement example:** - Slide 1 - App Name/Problem tackled and team members - Slides 2 - 3: - Technicals (i.e. APIs, schema, databases, prototype, the context of the app) - Plans for the future (i.e. Startup potential, Revenue Model, etc.) ==__Suggestion 2:__== - 1 slide pitch deck + Simulator running the app - slide only contains information about the team and what your product is - Lead Presenter will have **1-slide deck and simulator** ready and running as soon as demo day starts - Simulator should be open at the **main start point of the app - ==not== the login screens** - This means your presentation of your simulator should begin at the home page and skip the login process because you need to only show core features and talk about them in about 3 minutes or less *Teams should have **rehearsed at least 3 times** how they will pitch their app prior to the demo day* ==__Suggestion 3:__== - Professional Ad YouTube Video - Imagine you were a startup and needed a marketing video... ## Voting Criteria for Ties Here are the four categories that **help** judges break ties for finalists: - **Most Innovative** – used new tech such as Vision, AR, VR, AI, Machine Learning, etc. - **Best Design** – had some interesting UI, Animations, Color schemes, etc. - **Best Product Idea** – potential to make money or turn into a business idea ## Winners To help sweeten the pot, and makes things a bit more exciting, we're going to give away **$5K** in cash prizes to the top teams. ### Android * **1st place** - $1,500 (max of $500 per student) * **2nd place** - $750 (max of $250 per student) * **3rd place** - $300 (max of $100 per student) ### iOS * **1st place** - $1,500 (max of $500 per student) * **2nd place** - $750 (max of $250 per student) * **3rd place** - $300 (max of $100 per student) The prize money will be split evenly among the team members, although there is a per-student cap specified for each level *(this will apply for 1 or 2 person teams)*. We hope this adds a little motivation to finish your apps with your group, and put a little more elbow grease in the final polish. We're looking forward to seeing the final apps!
