# Arman Kabir Interview ### 9/16/2020 **Course:** iOS **University:** CUNY Hunter College ### Personal Questions *Tell me about yourself.* - Senior, was pre-med for 2 years - Was always interested in programming, even since high school, realized he did not enjoy pre-med as much and finally made the commitment to swith over to CS - *Why do you want to apply as a Tech Fellow?* - Used to be a big windows user, but always had an iPhone, was learning to code, and felt he eventually felt he wanted to make an iOS app - Tried web design, C++, out of all the languages and programming he felt he liked iOS the most and Swift programming with the Xcode interface - this is what drove him to iOS in general - Teaching in general scares a lot of people, but has some experience teaching, was an undergrad TA for the first Data Structrures course at his school. - Did well in the course, spoke to teacher and became a TA - Teaching in general helps him understand concepts better, understands their is a lot of patience needed but he really enjoys teaching - Saw that the TF opportunity was more hands on for teaching and running the course - Is a rewarding feeling helping *What skills do you have that would contribute as a Tech Fellow? Prior experiences?* - Patience, understands how to *What does it take to build a good community in the classroom?* - Communication, being able to be friendly with the student and not seem like an authoratative figure - As a student he felt he had trouble reaching out to the TA sometimes because of intimidation - Transparency is huge *What skills do you want to build/improve on? (technical/non-technical)* - Communication, thinks its very important as a soft skill - bc when coding it is very important to communicate your code effectively - Code Explanation, really important skill to have - Technical skills in general, learn how to make a full stack ios app - Collaborative workflow - Getting better at using Github , github issues, and commits to communicate better with teammates ### Live Demo Applicants should present their favorite tool that they used from the previous course that they've taken with.
