### 5/31/2020
**Course:** iOS
**University:** UCSD
### Personal Questions
*Tell me about yourself.*
- Studies computer science, joined codepath for the first time Spring with iOS because she saw a Facebook post about Android, Android was cancelled so went to iOS
- 1st year
- Plays piano, likes to dance
- When in course a lot of times just copied videos - didnt understand what was going on but now kinda does
*Why do you want to apply as a Tech Fellow?*
- During the course, TFs helped him a lot with her errors. Initially she didnt know how to debug too much so TFs helped teach her a lot
- now she knows how to debug and she wants to be able to give back and teach others how to debug
- teaches math and some other tech stuff to get people understanding software in general, really likes teaching and this could be another path for teaching
- the videos walk you through to so much detail so it's easy to rely
- Got involved really randomly with MassageBot - ucsd startup
- how did hear?
- went on social event, talked with some people, they were involved with massage bot, thought they were cool, needed a coding person, she offered herself, they checked
- Social event was for Data science - it was not intentional
- how did get convinced?
- The project they were doing seemed something legit because they were collaborating with a professor and they have a small product built already - also she has experience with arduino from the past - so thought it was good fitting for her because of her experience and also offered to make an app if so need be later on
- a lot of times its easier to get into motive and inspire yourself
- A lot of the times personally what convinces her - is understanding if that thing will benefit her somehow - that is what's attractive to her in an opportunity
- needs to see how they will instantly gratify
- codepath for example teaches
- something that will give you a promise of what you want
*What skills do you have that would contribute as a Tech Fellow? Prior experiences?*
- used to teach math in HS, during that process of teaching a bigger class - learned about what are some things she needs to do to ensure understanding and learnign
- Tech Dev in WIC (women in computing) learned the importance of communicating to ensure course runs smoothly - ask questions
- leadership
- in terms of guiding people who are in need and understanding where they come from and helping
*What does it take to build a good community in the classroom?*
- There must be something that keeps like a big goal that everyone wants to reach
- positive energy, excite students
- good 2 - way communication and engagement
*What skills do you want to build/improve on? (technical/non-technical)*
- Technical
- wants to actually be a better coder in both frontend and backend, understanding how to debug better, understanding more depth of each line of code
- Nontechnical
- Wants to improve on communication, despite her being good, she knows there could be improvements bc she often
- Writing in general, because initially when she builds a thought it takes a while to see the thought through - it takes her longer than other people to build a presentation or report bc she needs to think things through thoroughly
- Public speaking - wants to be better when she isnt the person who wrote the slides
- building logical flow
*What would you improve in CodePath?*
- One thing is that its really great in giving you a bigger picture of ios dev, but often times the small things, still hard to understand - makes sense because trying to cover so much content in one course
- provide more resources for people who want to learn more
- Awesome we have optional section, bc can build more if youre interested
- optional however is going into learning more big pictures but not the depth students probably need.
### Live Demo
Applicants should present their favorite tool that they used from the previous course that they've taken with. This should be presented through slides.
* **Additional notes:**
* **Verdict:** Pass
