--- tags: Filecoin --- # Filecoin Community Launch :::warning Filecoin is launching a program that provides a framework for community members to launch their own Filecoin events ::: --- ## Community Programming The Filecoin Ecosystem Working Group is creating resources and programming that enables communitity members to be self-directed. This programming will model the structures of Google Developers Groups but with the autonomy of DAO structures. The community program will roll out in two phases. The end deliverable is programming that is scaleable and self-directed. ### Audience - Makers, Builders, Developers - Not going with the traditional "Ambassadors" - B2C narrative, NFTs, a consumer layer over Filecoin - Theme: goofy, consumer friendly, lively, consumer builds with IPFS back-end ### Onboarding Onboarding the initial batch of Filecoin Technical Evangelists requires a tiered outreach strategy in the following sequence: 1. Invite current Filecoin grantees, projects 2. Invite current Filecoin participants, partnerships like Dapper/Flow 3. Invite IPFS builders including Advocates like Pat from Chainlink 4. Invite Filecoin Followers 5. Recruit technical NFT creators and web2 developers **This is not about teaching web2 people how web3 works* ### Timeline Sept 17 - Finalize Ambassador Handbooks Sept 20 - Recruiting Creators Sept 23 - Hackathon IPFS Demo/Recruiting Announcement Oct 4 - Onboarding Evangelists Oct 11 - Filecoin Community Handbook Launch Oct 15 - Filecoin Network Bday :birthday: ### Metrics - Establish Macro Metrics for Ambassador Program - Establish Micro Metrics for Ambassador Program - Events hosted - Onboarding people to IPFS --- ## Phase I: DIY Events Phase I is the community handbook and rituals that enables tech evangelists to create their own programming. With a framework in place, evangelists are able to pursue their creativity yet have the structure needed to launch their activity, content or event. Deliverables created in Phase I: - reimbursement documentations - topic inventory - co-host, co-collaboration list - Menu of resources Resources to consider: - [Filecoin Orbits](https://github.com/filecoin-project/devgrants/blob/master/rfps/rfp-filecoin-orbit.md) ## Phase II: Speaker Tracks Phase II is the main layer that futher incentivizes programming for the events. The idea behind speaker tracks is the desire for evangelists to raise awareness or speak about Filecoin across various ecosystems. Deliverables created in Phase II: - certification - Webinars, Hackathons, YT Videos, content - Builder, Technical Evangelist, Sr. Technical Evangelist ## Models: Open vs Cohort **Open Model** With a Open Model, the programming is a revolving door, there is no start or end-date for when and how evangelists can get started. With each new member, there should be an onboarding session so they know how to get started. From application to joining the onboarding session, each step is streamlined. Open Model will recruit community members as orchestrators of the ecosystem. Open Models will run similarly to DAO structures. This decentralized model is best for volume of both attendee acquisition and creative out-put. **Cohort Model** Cohort Models are programmings that have a set cadence and dedicated team of program orchestrators. Each member will have to join a specific batch set on specific timelines. This model is a best for smaller volume and retention. ## Next Steps 1. Finalize and migrate to Notion 2.
