# ARC Addition ## Abstract The APC was an interesting concept to throw in the mix of the CM game loop, but such a concept had a myriad of issues. Here, I am suggesting the addition of the [Armored Recon Carrier](https://avp.fandom.com/wiki/M540_Armored_Recon_Carrier) in its place, with the goals of below. The ARC would not be the VC's "do whatever" tool, as the APC was. Instead, the ARC would act as a mobile command post for CIC, similar to *Aliens*. The ARC would be purchasable for a low amount of intel (5-10) at tier 1 or 2. The only people capable of driving it are the SOs, XO, SEA, and CO[^1]. Unlike the APC, there would not be an option to choose between three kinds of vehicle. The ARC would be equipped for command and intelligence, having the following items of note: * Phone * The command APC's xeno wallhack sensor[^2] * Intelligence computer capable of uploading data and processing intel disks * Tacmap * Overwatch console * Groundside operations console * External short-ranged turret on top of the ARC[^2] With these changes, the ARC should successfully be an effective deployment tool for a CIC officer. The ideal use of it is parking on the marine side of a choke and then acting as a support role, giving intel to CIC and leaving the vehicle to act as a groundside officer. ## Goals * Give command the option to deploy a few CIC members in safety, with the ability to make tactical decisions from the front. * Add more (good) potential uses for intel. ## Non-Goals * Do basically anything the old APC did. * Add a specialized role to drive the APC. * Encourage *being* the front line in the ARC. [^1]: Synth too, most likely, but it's *strongly recommended* that someone in CIC is the driver [^2]: These objects will not work while the ARC is driving. To access them, the ARC driver has the option to extend the ARC's antenna, which anchors the ARC in place and takes 10s to turn on. To move again, the driver has to retract the antenna, taking another 10s.
