# Personal Website 1 - How to install Hugo on Windows11 in Detail
### Step 1. install latest HUGO on [gohugoio](https://github.com/gohugoio/hugo/releases)
1. click Show all 23 assets to find version for windows

2. Choose ==hugo_0.118.2_windows-amd64.zip== and download!
:bulb: no matter what version, choose the file ended with ==amd64.zip==

### Step 2. Extract the package
1. the target path to file is up to you

### Step 3. Add the path of HUGO to Environment variable
1. Click ***Windows*** on tool bar under your screen

2. Click ***Setting*** icon

3. Click ***System*** on right side of setting panel and Choose ***System Information***

4. Click ***Advanced system settings*** (Under *Related Settings* and followed by *Windows Specification*)

5. Click ***Environment Variables***

6. Choose ***Path*** and click ***Edit***

7. Click ***New*** and paste the path you extract hugo package and then ***OK***

8. Click ***OK***

:bulb:What's difference between User variables and System variables? When you open `cmd`(shows directory under the user) and type `hugo` and if it works, then it's because you're successful to add hugo to user vairable in environment variable. (same concept as system variable)

:bulb:You can follow the directory management here. Or you can just make it your way. Most important thing is that please make sure add the path of the extract directory to the environment variable
### Step 4. Check if you install HUGO successfully
1. open command line: `Win`+ `R` and type `cmd`

2. check the hugo version: type `hugo version`

3. :heavy_check_mark: Congratulation!
