The motivation for AR is it's multimodal user interface. (Pavlovic et al., 1997; Reeves et al., 2004). By presenting information in the world, AR provides an interaction closer to natural human-human communication. Visual overlay, stereo sound, tactile feedback gloves, and the physical world provides multiple sources of knowledge. ## User interface Audio and Tactile feedback : Basically the more feedback the better (Brickler et al., 2018; Burke, Prewett, & Elliot, 2006). Time taken to click : With interactiable objects in 3 dimensions, Fitts's Law has to be extended to include the z-axis (Rohs, Oulasvirta, & Suomalainen, 2011). Fitts' law describes how long it takes a user to hit a target in a graphical user interface (GUI) or other design, as a function of size and distance ## Development AR glasses : The development of augmented reality glasses by scholars at [reserachgate](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Lisa-Berkemeier/publication/330685984_Engineering_of_Augmented_Reality-Based_Information_Systems_Design_and_Implementation_for_Intralogistics_Services/links/5c62ecc645851582c3e3f9ec/Engineering-of-Augmented-Reality-Based-Information-Systems-Design-and-Implementation-for-Intralogistics-Services.pdf) ## Applications of Augumented Reality Engeering : A maintenance engineer servicing an engine would benefit from a visual overlay of labels that identify key components augmenting what she would normally see. Such a system could also access related manuals simply by selecting the corresponding item in the field of view with a pointing device. (Goose et al., 2003), Video games : Invisible Train Games (Wagner et al., 2005) Human PacMan (Cheok et al., 2004) Pokemon Go Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Geo-caching -- Find hidden items Zombie Run -- Fitness AR game where you run from zombies and fulfill missions lmao -- Interaction is through running to designated locations and listening to voice instructions -- [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlRgBvYFxTo) Retail : AR fitting room as reported on magazines [Washington Post](https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/07/09/virtual-try-ons-are-replacing-fitting-rooms-during-pandemic/) and [Mobidev](https://mobidev.biz/blog/ar-ai-technologies-virtual-fitting-room-development) Homde decore by virtually placing furniture and recolor the room, has been attempted by [Kmart](https://www.cmo.com.au/article/683125/kmart-launches-ar-powered-kbot/) Nagivation : The Invisible Train system, an AR interface (Surface User Interface) is displayed on the screen of the PDA. The attached camera allows the PDA to determine its relative 3-D location and rotation with respect to printed fiducial makers in the environment. !e tracking and rendering overlay provides an SUI to a 3-D information space embedded within physical reality. Interface elements that appear overlaid on the world such as the train speed button or moving track switches can all be operated with a tap on the rendered item on screen.
