Hello everyone, my name is Christofel Rio Goenawan, usually my friends called me Ofel. I'm final year electrical engineering student in Bandung Institute of Technology ( ITB ) in Indonesia with minor in Mathematics and Statistics. I am very grateful to have chance to joined TEEP internship program in Summer 2020, that is in my third year university study. TEEP Internship program is a annual summer research intern hosted by BMW Lab in National Taiwan University of Science and Technology ( NTUST ) coordinated by Prof Ray Guang-Cheng. Actually this intern hosted on site , that is in NTUST in Taipei, Taiwan. But unfortunately due to the pandemic event around the world, TEEP intern in 2020 hosted online. In this remote internship program I learned a lot of useful things either technically or non technically, that make me very grateful to have this internship program. Therefore I will share my experience with you all.

My internship topics is Acumos AI platform, that is open source Artificial Intelligence platform developed by Linux Foundation. Actually I work in pair with my colleagues, that is Akmal Narendra from my univeristy to have research in Acumos AI, but due to our another internship with company, that is Compal Taiwan, we decided to divide our topic by Akmal was having topic in Non- RT RIC, and I still have topic in Acumos AI topic with additional goal to learn how to utilize Acumos AI platform in O- RAN architectures. So in my internship I studied, learned and tested the Acumos AI platform latest release in CentOS based NTUST server. Acumos AI aims to solve the sharing and infrastructure problems of AI/ML development by enabling the packaging, cataloging, and sharing of ML models . It creates a separation between ML models, which are designed by machine learning experts and trained via a process of
feedback from real-world results, and the surrounding infrastructure which deploys and runs the models . Acumos AI allow the data scientists or modelers to upload their pre-trained models and then packs the models and their dependencies into lightweight services, and then end users can download and deploy these services on the platform of their choice, either locally or in the cloud . But due to Acumos AI integrate more than 30 services in its architectures, it is usually hard and time consuming for developer to install Acumos AI platform in their machine.
In my internship I successfully installed Microservices Environment and Services needed for Acumos AI in NTUST server, but I still unsuccess to deploy Acumos AI in NTUST server.

Because I have online internship, the internship designed so we can communicate effectively even in remote environment. We use Trello as main progress monitoring platform, and Webex owned by Prof Ray as main online meeting platform. The internship holded from Monday to Friday at 9 am until 4 pm Taiwanese time, each week for totally 8 weeks. In beginning of each day, we write our study plan, what problem we want to tackle on, and what is our expected result from our plan in Trello, and in the end of each day we write our result, problem and report in Hack MD and summarize it in Trello. And then once per Week, that is Wednesday we all the intern have weekly presentation to Prof Ray and all other internee to summarize our weekly progress and next week plan. But because I and Akmal also have internship with company Compal Taiwan, we also have additional meeting with Prof Ray and Compal Taiwan to presents our progress and next week plan. In this internship each topic team been assigned with one mentor, in my topic the mentor is Kevin. Kevin helps me to understand my topic, planning my objectives and event motivated me along the internship. There are also other topics's mentor who help us along the journey, by gave us very warm welcome and advising us. In this internship I also got some new friends from other university, that is University of Indonesia ( UI ) because we worked together to have better understanding in our own topic, and to have very pleasure journey along our internship program.

In this meaningful journey I learned a lot of useful things either technically or non technically. Technically I learn how to having research from one of the most research- productive in the world, that is NTUST, from preparation, literation studies, testing and evaluating our result. I also learned very deep understanding about my topic, that is Acumos AI platform and O- RAN architectures that also teached me how to approach and study certain topics. I also learn how to write proper paper in IEEE format using LateX that is very useful to make our paper in the future. Non technically, I also learn about project management, that is how to write your initial plans and objectives , write your result and evaluate our result. I also learn about team management, how we motivates and advising each other as a team to fulfill our objectives. Last but not least, I also learn how to communicate and works together with people from various cultures and language, that is very excited and meaningful. Actually, it was such a challenge for us to do the intenship program remotely. I believe that there must be a lot more experiences we can get if we can visit Taiwan. Do not hesitate to join this Internship program because it realy teaches you many things.

Finally, I would like to thank you Prof. Ray Guang-Cheng for leading, mentoring, advised and motivated the author during the internship program and give invaluable support. Sincere thanks also for Kevin King as the mentor of author who always there to help and motivate the author in the internship program, and for Akmal Narendra and other internee as teammates of author who helped author from the beginning either in the topic or in other activity. I would note forget the precious experience in this journey, and I very expect to meet all the member of BMW lab and other internee someday in Taipei or Indonesia.
