### THE SHOW:
* ‘We’re From The Internet’ (WFTI) is a fun, playful series that puts Nouns front-and-center, connects with the massive ‘Bluey’ demographic (kids and their parents) and functions as both ongoing marketing for Nouns and a stand-alone show that can grow into something much, much bigger
### FUNDING ASK:
* $80k USDC (attached budget)
* Note: The previous version of the prop did not include any line items for what I do - writing, directing, producing, editing, all social media - but now that I’m planning to spend the majority of my time on Chip and Benny, those are included as well as small bumps to cast and crew payments as this is not a one-time ask.
* Allows us to write, produce and finish at least 12 full episodes and accompanying short(er) form content each quarter (~30-40 pieces of content)
* Every quarter (for up to 2 years), I’ll put up another prop for the same budget to assess whether the DAO thinks continued funding of the IP is in its best interest and in the process, share progress related to creative, financials and growth generally.
### DAO GETS:
* For every quarterly prop funded, the DAO will be entitled to a +4% share of any and all future adjusted gross revenue generated from the IP (i.e. ad revenue, merchandise, IP sale, etc.).
* To explain concretely: if this prop is funded, the DAO’s rev share becomes 4%. Then if the next quarterly prop is funded, that becomes 8% and so on.
* The achieved % remains even if quarterly props stop being funded with the understanding that achieving breakout success and substantial revenue takes time and money.
* Note: This implies a revenue sharing agreement and not ownership of the IP. Sole creative control and ownership of the IP will remain with the Canadian production corp. (We're From The Internet Corp.)
* Chip and Benny will always link back to Nouns through either “Funded by Nouns” messaging, links to nouns dot wtf/world/com, the unicode ⌐◨-◨, etc.
Every piece of content will effectively function as marketing materials for Nouns
### GROW CHIP AND BENNY QUARTER OVER QUARTER BY:
* Continuing to release episodes on Youtube/Insta and grow our core audience quarter over quarter
* Creating BTS and making of videos that explain and provide educational content on how we are doing things
* Building out a case study on Chip and Benny (and Nouns more generally) to present to young filmmakers/creators through university lectures.
* I currently have connections and access to do this at New York University, The New School, Australian Film Television and Radio School and the University of Toronto.
* Taking Chip, Benny and their story on the road to events alongside Nouns to bridge entertainment and Ethereum
* SXSW, DevCon, Consensus, EthDenver, etc.
Hi all, I gave this updated draft a lot of thought and went back and forth between a few ideas until I landed on what I think is not only the most interesting way forward creatively, but also the most Nouns-aligned one too.
And it can be summed up pretty simply:
### Grow it big then set it free.
These days, the goal of every IP business is basically the same. Build something big and then milk the rights endlessly. I’m not saying this is bad, but I also don’t think the point of Nouns is to do what everyone else is doing.
What I’m proposing is that we flip the script and change the foundational motivation of building out an IP.

### Let’s. Build. Different.
Instead of building Chip and Benny with the intention of making and milking a **cash cow**, let’s build them with the intention of making a **creative cow**.
That means we create to make people fall in love instead of focusing on getting them to open their wallets. It means leaning into abundance and sharing instead of being overprotective. It means anybody can use the stuff we make in any way they want. And it means they can build on top of that foundation too.
**It’ll be both a giant marketing campaign for Nouns and a way to make the world a little more creative, open and kind.**
What I’m basically saying is, let’s make the next Muppets and then release them out into the public domain.
But if we want to make big waves, we need to finish architecting our foundations first.
**2 years of streamed funding** allows us to do that.
# **PROP TL;DR**
### THE SHOW:
* ‘We’re From The Internet’ (WFTI) is a fun, playful series that puts Nouns front-and-center, connects with the massive ‘Bluey’ demographic (kids and their parents) and functions as both ongoing marketing for Nouns and a stand-alone show that can grow into something much, much bigger
### FUNDING ASK:
* A quarterly payment stream of $80k USDC for a period of 2 years ([quarterly budget](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1savhe8o7t4F_NgQO_Cx3qHVU75XoVr-a_uCCUUv0biA/edit?usp=sharing)) = $640k USDC in total
* Note: The previous version of the prop did not include any line items for what I do - writing, directing, producing, editing, all social media - but now that the majority of my time will be spent on Chip and Benny, those are included as well as small bumps to cast and crew payments as this is not a one-time ask.
* Allows us to write, produce and finish at least 12 full episodes and accompanying short(er) form content each quarter (~30-40 pieces of content)
### GROWING WFTI AND NOUNS THROUGH CHIP AND BENNY:
* Continue releasing episodes on Youtube/Insta and growing our core audience quarter over quarter
* With no need for outside brand sponsorship, every episode functions as a top of funnel for Nouns itself
* “Funded by Nouns” with nouns.com link messaging in every piece of content
* Harness the story of Nouns funding -> CC0 IP to get both media and creative attention
* Create BTS and making of videos that explain and provide educational content on how we are doing things
* Build out a case study on Chip and Benny (and Nouns more generally) to present to young filmmakers/creators through university lectures.
* I currently have connections and access to do this at New York University, The New School, Australian Film Television and Radio School and the University of Toronto.
* Take Chip, Benny and their story on the road to events alongside Nouns to bridge entertainment and Ethereum
* SXSW, DevCon, Consensus, EthDenver, etc.
### Public Domain (CC0):
* At the end of 2 years when Chip and Benny have become an established and recognizable IP with a boatload of assets, we’ll do the thing that only Nouns can…
* Make them CC0, freeing up all assets and the characters so that anyone and everyone can make stuff with them
* The characters
* The episodes
* And everything else we’re gonna make (including digital puppet assets)
### STREAM PROTECTIONS FOR THE DAO:
* The streaming payment route gives the DAO the ability to kill payments if it feels the project is not meeting expectations or headed in a direction that it feels is not a net positive for the world
* The caveat being that if the payment stream ends before the 2 year timeline, then the IP won’t become CC0
# WFTI Episodes
Diving in, here’s a Youtube playlist where you can watch the first 10 eps.

**We started from 0** in October and, as of this moment, on **Youtube** we have:
* ~230k total views
* ~1.4k hours of watch time
* +14k subscribers
On **Insta**, we have:
* ~100k total views
* ~600 followers
Analytics from both Insta and YT give us a glimpse into what’s connecting, what’s not and what time users are active.
All of that will help us adjust our ideas (i.e. warmer background color on thumbnails, quicker openings to grab viewers, video questions from fans/subscribers to give some human interaction, different release schedule) and greatly improve our ability to garner more traction, especially building off of an existing base, the next time around whilst keeping the humor and tone of what makes people connect with Chip and Benny in the first place.
# INCUBATING SOMETHING BIGGER

SOURCE: Bloomberg - Americans Are Watching Fewer New TV Shows and More Free TV (https://archive.ph/EXTcC)
The market for intelligent, evergreen kids’ shows that also connect and entertain adults is a sort of holy grail and Chip and Benny have the potential to become one of the biggest names in that niche.
And by approaching an IP brand in an entirely nounish way - by creating with the intent to spur more creativity - I think we can make some positive change in the world too.
So hopefully, with all that in mind, you feel like this project is something worth continuing and doubling down on 🍪🐰
# MORE ABOUT THE SHOW
“We’re From The Internet” is a short-form series where, in every episode, Chip and Benny, the bespectacled cookie and rabbit behind a ChatGPT-esque LLM, attempt to answer a prompt or question resulting in a mix of silly, surreal and sometimes poignant responses. It’s a modern day version of Bert and Ernie that everyone can relate to.
And it's really, really fun.
# The People and Infrastructure Behind The Show

Chris Martin (that’s me, hi!) is the creator, writer, director and producer behind the series (https://www.chrismeetworld.com/).
Thanks to Prop 398 the puppets were designed and created by Puppet Heap (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puppet_Heap) and the celebrated puppet designer, Paul Andrejco.

The show is filmed entirely in Toronto with a fully Canadian crew - including the art director of ‘The Boys’ and the producer of the recent A24 acquisition, ‘The Undertone.’

Jamie Shannon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Shannon) - the co-creator of Nanalan among many other shows - and Marty Stelnick, two absolutely incredible puppeteers and legends in the Canadian puppet scene, brought the puppets to life and give them their voices.

Before going into production on the first batch of episodes, we established ‘**WE’RE FROM THE INTERNET CORP**,’ a Canadian corporation, as the vehicle to run the entire production through and really signal that this is something we think has legs long-term, as well as take advantage of eventual tax rebates.
‘We’re From The Internet’ is a marriage of tech and the tactile - AI and crypto meets puppets and physical production - to create something truly unique with characters everybody can fall in love with.
Which brings us to…
# The Ask
2 years of production funding, $640k total, provided quarterly through a payment stream.

By stretching the [budget](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1savhe8o7t4F_NgQO_Cx3qHVU75XoVr-a_uCCUUv0biA/edit?usp=sharing), we’re able to achieve television quality episodes with:
- **Studio rental** - 3 days of shoot and 1 day of pre-light
- **Equipment rental** - Alexa 35, lenses, lighting and grip
- **2 puppeteers/performers** - ACTRA compliant contracts and hours
- **14 person crew** - Director/Writer/Producer (Me), AD, UPM, DP, ACs, Sound Mixer, Boom Op, Production Designer, Set Dresser, Puppet Wrangler, Caterer and PAs
- **Meals/snacks for cast + crew for 4 days**
- **Post production** - Editing, VFX, music, sound

# Cultural Layer
Everybody who knows or has heard about 'We're From The Internet' - from the people who worked on it to friends who've just seen a screenshot or two - has fallen in love with the idea and the characters.
It's an incredibly rare thing and our first prop made that possible.
We think this show stands a good chance of breaking through and connecting with a much bigger audience, both inside and outside of crypto, and, by proxy, helping a lot of new folks fall in love with Nouns.

So if you really believe that the noggles are the cultural layer of Ethereum, then we think it’s important to continue proliferating the kind of culture and art that people can connect with, share with friends and recognize as ‘nounish.’
### ‘We’re From The Internet’ isn't just a fun show that kids and adults can fall in love with, it's also a soft landing and playful way for people to meet Nouns often for the first time.
So let’s get this cookie and this rabbit in front of a wider audience and show them all the good side of what Ethereum and in particular Nouns can build and represent.
Thank you for your time!
