Overview
This proposal seeks to recruit a full stack engineer to join and collaborate on the Community link project, focusing on enhancing wireless connectivity while providing expertise in cryptography to bridge the gap between connectivity and smart contracts.
Project Details
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other embedded engineers and smart contract developers to connect various angles from connectivity to blockchain.
- Hardware-Software Integration: Accelerate and close the gap between hardware and software, especially in connecting smart contracts with new connectivity stacks.
- Existing Solutions: Identify and leverage existing solutions for connectivity.
- Design Workshops: Participate in design workshops and provide expertise.
- Information Sharing: Foster strong collaboration with team members to share information effectively.
- Task Definition: Work closely with the team to define and outline all necessary tasks.
- Trial Runs: Support the preparation and execution of trial runs at selected locations, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- System Refinement: Incorporate feedback from trial runs by analyzing data and insights, refining the system to better meet target market needs and enhance overall efficacy.

Team's experience
With a STEM background, my first actual job was working on autonomous boats in Scandinavia for a semester, focusing on autonomous navigation, whose outcomes were summarised in this paper.
Most of my experience after that has been in crypto, namely Ethereum and Bitcoin, as a founder of two startups with one exit, and tech lead for various teams, mostly working in DeFi and zero knowledge cryptography.
I would like to join the ETH Sim team because, as a long-term maker since the early days of the Arduino Uno, I've consistently tinkered with citizen science projects, robotics, and radio communication (Meshtastic, LoRaWan) and I strongly believe DePin will be one of the majour drivers of web3 in the near future.

Along with https://www.notion.so/pse-team/ETHSIM-Q3-4-2024-0c072778bc2349d5a05d36dbc3c91284 , the contributor will collaborate very closely with the team to fulfill related tasks. Due to the project’s exploratory stage, we will structure this section based on weekly work hours instead of fixed milestones.
Overview
- Work timeframe: 7/15 - 9/6
- Total work hours: 32 hrs
Task Completed:
- Attending weekly call and discussion with engineers plus extra syncs with individual team members (6hrs)
- Audit mesh wifi technology out there and assesment: (5hrs - half working day)
- Draft plan that involve privacy and smart contract: (2hrs)
- Prepare architecture plan to ease the communication among engineers: (3hrs)
- Develop the V0 of EthSim smart contracts to enable access control over captive portals with future-proof support for payments, billing and connection limits including a full test suite (8hrs - full working day)
- Assist team to swap contracts to the basic, non-commercial version in the final demo, minting expirable NFT passes for connected users (8hrs - full working day)
Total: 32hrs
