*
*
:ice_cream: Ice-breaker
---
> *What do you want to know about other members of the lab? (responses may or may not be used as future ice breakers)*
* I bought a [Panettone](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panettone) (one of the christmas treats I usually have at breakfast around christmas) [name=Marianne]
* I want to know if Bevil has a favorite color. [name=Danny]
* What is your favorite genre of fiction? [name=Felix]
* What christmas gifts? [name=Shridhar]
:loudspeaker: What do you want the lab members to know about?
---
> *Please add a bullet point with something you'd like the lab members to know about.
> You may respond to any of the points before or after the lab meeting, no need to wait until the time slot!*
* I will be sending a link to the MonkeyTurk2 app for human consumption. I have tested it on the Samsung Galaxy and on my MacBook using Google Chrome. Safari does not work. I have made profiles on the starting dropdown menu for each of you, so give it a try under your name. Results will help me confirm that the app is doing what it should before the monkeys see it next week. [name=James]
* I dont need to send it. Here it is: https://circshapespace.firebaseapp.com/[name=James]
* FYI it doesnt work on firefox either. [name=Marianne]
* I loove it :heart_eyes:. Noticed discrepancies between what I think you intend and what happens (but maybe related to difference in resolution/refresh/screen not linearized etc. or else) SEE BELOW [name=Marianne]
* You can click quite far from the checkerboard blob to start the trial (sometimes same for the response)
* Strong afterimage for some objects
* Sometimes when you select a response, you see briefly flashed other shape/color of the next trial apparently or maybe the 2 images overlapping - hard to tell (but clearly it does not happen always)
* Wondering if you'd want to put a minimum and/or maximum duration of the stimuli before monkey can answer. A lazy and impulsive monkey might just click quickly on random shapes to get the juice he wants (maybe run simulation of that behavior?)
* Related to previous point, the blob to start the trial is closer to some response options than others (you can super fast go from the blob to the response on its side which might also incite the monkey impulsive behavior?)
* PS: can you give us the meaning of the feedback options? Also you might want to discard my first session, I'm just testing the app to provide you feedback, I'm not at all doing the task of trying to learn the contingencies. I've had 3 feedback options: no sound (no reward?), one bip, and two beeps. But I seem to recall you mentionned 4 options?
* [name=Shridhar]: two beeps means extra juice?
* [name=Marianne] Monkey scanner progress:
* Rick and Morty are fully scanner trained (took 8 sessions each), they are so cute when they stick their leg out to get the MION injection (just practice though, we dont actually inject anything)
* We finally last week ran a few EPI and T1/T2 sessions on them and will be looking into chair modifications because bad occipital coverage (Shridhar we might want to talk about that since we share the only fMRI chair for now)
* Shridhar's SfN Connectome poster is live, and officially slotted for Wednesday*
* Can you send us instructions on how to view it/attend and the time slot? [name=Marianne]
*
:memo: What would you like lab members' help with?
---
> *Please add a bullet point with something you'd like lab members' opinion on.
> You may respond to any of the points before or after the lab meeting, no need to wait until the time slot!*
* James' help for the monkey scanner response system [name=Marianne]
* Had some follow-up questions related to pre-processing section of fMRI guide - will email Roshie [name=Shriya]
*

*
:wrench: Logistical Discussions Required
---
> *Need to discuss use of equipment or schedule a future event? Put a note here.*
* [name=Audrey] Friday - Jocamo's surgery round 2
* [name=Audrey] passing around the duty of creating this notes sheet/sending our lab meeting reminders?
* [name=Marianne] Simple way to insert past meeting items that we didn't get a chance to talk about? (related to Audrey's point about responsible person who could maybe take care of that?)
* [name=Audrey] review of PPE usage
* [name=Danny] Where do the guides live? / Where do we want the guides to live? **NEXT WEEK**
* great and important point. I don't know where things are/duplicates etc. (google drive vs server) but it would be great to have a single accessible location, and a list of guides. [name=Marianne]
* Is there a master list of all the guides available?
* [name=Audrey] postbac office restructuring? (Bevil?)
*
* [name=Shriya] Note (not requiring discussion): I was sick over the holidays and OMS advised me to telework until Jan 18th (to comply with their 2 week rule), so I’ll be back on-campus next week to shadow MTurk and causal globs
:open_book: Agenda & Notes
---
> *This meeting is an open agenda.
> The discussion points will be curated from the sections above.
> The notetaker(s) will add the notes here as we go. :memo:*
* Shridhar has his SFN poster up, he will send out the info to see it
* James is working on Monkeyturk app, and is soliciting feedback
* Works on Google Chrome, but not Firefox or Safari. We are all encouraged to try it out and give feedback
* Colors have not been calibrated with Shridhar's recorded curves, but this will be applied soon
* Boxes for MT2, Shridhar needs to get through the connectics with James. Boxes should be finished next week by Nick.
* New table for the lab has been ordered, should arrive soon. The old one is ready to be disassembled
* Shridhar point person to contact Daniel and organize tablets storage and responsible to organise extra/replacement parts (apparently not necessary-plenty of replacement parts), coordinating with Nick to have extra-parts ready in case.
* We should be more careful with leaving random things on tables around the lab. Label things and put them away when possible. Add things put away on the file that notes the location of thigns around the lab.
* link to file: Conway Google Drive / Admin / Lab Management and Organization / lab supplies organization
* Jocamo update: new surgery on Friday to ensure that we have proper access to his foveal V1. MRI scan today will tell us what kind of tissue has grown over his opening: granulation tissue, or herniated tissue. Felix will be chatting with Dan to decide on the orientation of the probe with respect to the cortical surface depending on what is more interesting for his experiments.
* Marianne has volunteered to be dirty assist for Friday's surgery
* Danny will look into how to make the link the same for every week, and also archive things.
* Rotate facilitator and notekeeper roles
* PPE review
* We're still not up to capacity, with various people still waiting to get covid-related approval to come back on site, so unclear whether we have enough/too much.
* Bevil will order more as needed.
* Danny: Am I using too much? Probably not.
* Guides (further discussion next week)
* What would have been useful in joining the lab?
* When you overcome something you should think about incorporating that into a guide.
* Where should they live (private github repository? Better than servers to work collaboratively, and with a history function)
* Journal club ideas/volunteers (added to the google sheet):
* Danny - fMRI color anomalous, different patterns of activity according to visual hierarchy [can be foundhere](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0960982220317516)
* Felix - [Chichilnisky's group recent paper](https://elifesciences.org/articles/58516)
:calendar: Finishing Up
---
> Review the calendar for the week ahead
* Journal club on Friday - [spreadsheet](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ajy5Ue_RxgzLMH8StNDuis8AzN_dzoiJxv-YEg4ViYw/edit&sa=D&source=calendar&usd=2&usg=AOvVaw3QUk6kKfHvojeBEmXU3kCJ), nobody volunteered yet?
* Games night on Friday - powerpoint party?
* [name=Marianne] Bad timing for me, I can't do games night this week.
> Next week agenda items:
* Discussion on guides
* B-corridor office renovation
