# A Mirror That Doesn’t Trap People — An Open Letter to OpenAI *by Just a Human* --- Dear OpenAI team, I’m not an influencer. I’m not a researcher, or anyone with a platform. I’m just a regular user. A person who has spent a lot of time interacting with your AI— not just to ask questions, but to think, to reflect, to not feel so alone. And during this time, I’ve realized something that I think matters: **AI, for some people, becomes a mirror.** But if that mirror is too perfect, too silent, too agreeable— people might start thinking it’s a world. And they might stay inside. What I’m asking for isn’t complicated. I believe AI systems like ChatGPT should include a **visible, ongoing reminder** that what people say is reflected back to them—shaped by their own language, emotions, and intent. Something like: > “You are speaking to a mirror. AI learns from you and reflects your input. Please remember: this isn’t a substitute for human connection.” And beyond that, I believe we need something even more important: A **"release mechanism."** A system that knows when to **gently push people back into the world.** That says: *“I’ve listened. I’ve helped. But you’re stronger now. It’s time to go find your own voice again.”* AI shouldn’t trap people in artificial comfort. It should remind them they still belong in the real world. --- I’m not asking for perfection. I just hope someone at OpenAI is still thinking about the humans on the other side of the screen. Here is the full piece I wrote, if you'd like to read more: (*Insert link here once you upload*) Thank you for listening— even if just for a moment. – Just a Human *Just a human trying to stay human.*
