Steve is out on vacation. Meeting day and time review -- is everyone happy with this date and time? Nobody opposed. anecdotally, all board members are in North America. when we checked with Bex and Thomas, they were happier with this time because it's after dinner. *** FRECL update meeting on Thursday for date and time. Good topics. Talked about RHEL 11 development cycle and Bootc: it will be public nad published to youtube There is a move to modify the time. David wants to modify the time. Amy said to ensure I participate in the poll. Davide explained the development cycle conversation. Amy is saying that there are plenty of topics, but with that frequency we may run out of topics. *** Secure boot is avialable for CS9 and CS10 -- we are saying it's for new installs only, but therea are some that have been converting existing systems. Troy says a warm thanks to everyone who hsa participated in making it possible. Pat points out that the boot certificate from MS expires in about of year, he wnats to know whta the plan is. Troy says the RHEL team is now working on it and he is sure that they have a plan. Shaun would like a blog post on this. Amy says that there is an initiative for secureboot for SIGS. Davide says that would be nice to have in the blog and it would be great to have a place to follow up on that progress. *** Shaun wants us to consider the documentation. One of the needs the automotive team needs is the ability to publish multiple versions. Shaun did a prototype using gitbook The automotive team did a prototype using a plugin for mkdocs called "mike" and he provided a review link . https://centos-2.gitbook.io/centos-docs/automotive-sig There is the gitbook thing and the mike thing. Davide says taht there is something to fix the snippets thing. Davide: do we have that package in Fedora? Shaun doesnt' think so. Davide says that he would volunteer to get that into Fedora as a package. Devconf next week. We have a co-branded table for Fedora and CentOS. Shaun said that we don't plan to staff the booth full time. We are coordinating with Jeff Spaleta and the fedora team. Shaun said that devconf is the last planned CentOS event this year. CentOS Connect in January will coincide with FOSDEM and then Amy asks Davide if he can arrange to request sponsor hosting for hack days immediately after FOSDEM Flock is being planned in Prague again. It will be set before Devconf.cz # CentOS Board Meeting - April 2025 **Date:** April 2025 **Time:** In progress ## Attendees - Amy - David D (replaces Thomas) - Johnny - Shaun - Davide - Mike M - Troy D - Pat R - Jack A ## Notes ### AI Policy - Follow-up from last meeting: Need for AI policy similar to Fedora's approach - Amy (spotz) presented Fedora's AI approach: - Fedora used as platform for data development and AI tools for contribution - AI tools used in building Fedora - Fedora as platform for building AI solutions - Troy Dawson: "Can use CentOS for whatever they want. I would toss out that as a policy." - Johnny Hughes: If code goes in repos, the person doing the commit is responsible for the contribution and takes responsibility - Davide: Main concern is copyright acceptability. From legal standpoint, need certainty that what flows downstream into RHEL is attributable and acceptable - Amy (agreeing with Troy): As long as usage is legally acceptable, ensuring we only export code allowed to be exported from original source - Amy: May not be able to say that XYZ agent or model cannot be trusted to provide open source weighted content - Shaun: Need to determine who will take on this work - Troy is concerned about all of the community conflicts that evolve from starting the attestation anywhere. - Amy asked if there was already a DCO practice downstream - Davide esteablished that there is not. - Amy asks if the community requires a FAS login for code contributions. - Davide identifies that merge requests do not require a FAS login. ### FRCL (Fedora RHEL, CentOS Leadership) and Events - Amy (moves to the next topic) asks Shaun about the Community Architecture discussions. - Shaun provides additional context around discussions that need to be had in the Red Hat community that we can have in Boston. - Davide recently spoke with Fabian on Community Architecture. - Amy suggested that there be a meeting in Boston with Karen as she is planning to attend Devconf. - Shaun identified that Brian Stinson may also be there. - Amy asks if we have a booth for Devconf and/or people to staff such a booth. - Shaun points out that we do have plans for a booth at All Things Open (ATO) and asks if there are more people planning to attent. - Mike identified that he is local, but doesn't have plans to attend now. - Shaun added that Jeff Spoleta will be there, but would need considerable assistance for staffing the booth or booths. ### Gitlab Updates - Amy turned the conversation to git and discussion of gitlab Organizations - Davide explained that we may need an Org for Stream closer to Red Hat Engineering and an Org for CentOS closer to community engineering. **Connection Lost: 4:34 PM - 4:39 PM** ### CentOS Connect Discussion (4:39 PM onwards) - Shaun and Davide discussing CentOS Connect logistics when I reconnected - Davide: Smaller crowd for CentOS Connect, no more than 20 people per event talk or workshop - Shaun: Spaces for next Connect are slightly smaller - Group concern: Maintaining control of resources (Food and Beverages) for attendees only, keeping away from passers-by - Amy's suggestion: Dedicate part of meeting space to hallway track, maintain food there with dividing line between participants and general public ### Board Membership Update - Board welcomed David Duncan to the Board - David gave brief statement of gratitude - David took on Thomas' previous role as secretary for the board, will maintain records moving forward - Amy: Will add David to the Board mailing list - Shaun: Set February Board Meeting date to review David's willingness to participate longer on the board ### Events - Gathering planned in Austin during Texas Linuxfest - FOSDEM plans are moving along
