Proper ebooks for Indian classics are hard to find, despite them being in public domain. Chandrakanta is one such book. archive.org has public scans available from the Digital Library of India, and several sites on the internet have readable versions, but there are no eBook versions available for reading on devices.
A well-crafted standards-compliant ebook for the following 7 books by Devakinandan Khatri. The books should be available in multiple formats, typeset nicely, and readable in any eInk device (including a Kindle).
While the book is in public domain, the cover art is not. As such we'll need to make new covers for the books. Lots of inspiration can be drawn from previous covers on the Internet. I found the covers for the Kobo editions quite interesting, despite using cheap clipart. The cover for the recent Rupa Publications' English translation is also quite good.

The primary inspiration for the project is StandardEbooks, a free volunteer-run project which publishes standards compliant beautiful ebooks for books in the public domain.
Plan is to use the Open fonts available from Indian Type Foundry.
