# Preservation DAO
Data DAO for preserving public goods data.
# User Interface
UI similar to Kickstarter/GoFundMe. A user can submit and create a page for a dataset they want to be preserved. It's then browsable by other users who can see what the total required FIL staking/donation requirements are, what the current contributions are, and decide what level of contribution they want to give.
Preservation DAO would remain agnostic to the actual curation and primarily function as governance and facilitator of the platform.
A subset of datasets could be FIL+ based on approval by some working group in Preservation DAO or even all datasets if PL approved that scheme.
Could have something where data is prepared ahead of time and made public on IPFS by a Storage Provider in exchange for that Storage Provider having first dibs on storage of the funded deal.
# NFTs for contribution
Preservation DAO mints philanthropy NFTs to users in exchange for their donations or staking of FIL to support public goods data storage.
This could be NFTs on Filecoin, or NFTs on other chains via hash-locked atomic swaps.
In general people like having recognition for good things they do and this could drive some of the user engagement.
NFTs contain metadata about what the user contributed to, for instance a user could contribute in exchange for a `Mozart Original Manuscripts; Stored Nov 2022 - Nov 2023, N=3; Sole Sponser` NFT or a `2021 Climate Data - NCDC; Stored Nov 2022 - Nov 2023, N=10; 5% Sponser` NFT.
# Questions
- Could Preservation DAO register as a nonprofit and achieve Tax Exempt status to let contributors deduct FIL contributions on their taxes?
