- people are developing custom solutions because MM is difficult to ramp up on
- can UI components be extracted to be reusable? Talley interested in building it if at least 5 people would use it
- feels like micromanager isn't going to be supported long term and isn't truly OSS
- doesn't feel like open source because not many people contribute to it
- people have paid MM developers to add certain features
- people don't want something generic as it becomes less useful
- still interested in having general composable UI components. Everyone likes the tissue map.
- one group didn't use napari because they were worried about the number of dependencies. Used TK instead.
- want lightweight control of the microscope as you're building instead of MM or IMswitch
- like labview because of this
- one person hasn't updated MM to v2 because he feels he doesn't have support, doesn't understand yet the benefits of Python
- device adapters in MM are useful. they should be reused
- performant data streaming is a selling point of Acquire
- zarr support
- clear tissue datasets
- would be useful to have online processing to throw away irrelevant data to reduce file size
