## Overview
**Jan Community Grants (JCG)** program is a quarterly initiative designed to recognize and reward valuable contributions to the Jan. Similar to the [Optimism RetroPGF](https://community.optimism.io/docs/governance/retropgf-3/#voting), this rewards aims to encourage and reward community engagement and drive innovation within the Jan project.
## Structure
### Eligibility Criteria
Contributors are invited to submit requests showcasing their contributions to Jan. Contributions can range from code enhancements, documentation improvements, community support, and other impactful activities that benefit the Jan ecosystem.
### Submission Process
- Contributors submit a detailed request outlining their contributions through a form Jan team shared on the [Discord](https://discord.gg/Rv2HqJ3caU).
- Submissions should include evidence of the contribution, such as links to pull requests, community discussions, or other relevant documentation.
- All contributions included in the projects must be completed work. Participants can submit multiple projects.
*All of the submission process will be managed on [orbit.love](http://orbit.love) forms and programs.*
### Selection Criteria
- Contributions will be evaluated based on their impact, innovation, and alignment with Jan's goals and values.
- Projects must be completed; future projects will not be accepted.
- The Jan Team evaluates contributors' project submissions, and if deemed appropriate, contributors qualify to participate in the voting process.
### Voting Mechanism
- The selection of grant recipients is based on a Community and Core Team vote.
- To prevent voting abuse, the weight of Core Team votes will be increased.
- During the voting period, each individual has the right to cast only one vote per day - this means each community member can vote for only one project among the options presented each day.
## Determining Winners
- After the voting period ends, the projects with the highest number of votes will be declared the winners.
- The number of winning projects will depend on the program's budget and goals for that quarter.
- In the event of a tie, the Jan Team may cast deciding votes or distribute the grant equally among the tied projects.
- Winners will be announced on the Jan Discord channel and other communication platforms used by the Jan community.
### Grant Distribution
The form of grants will be determined based on the program's budget and goals. The distribution process and timeline will be clearly communicated to the community.
### Governance and Feedback
A governance structure or committee may be established to oversee the program and resolve any disputes. A feedback mechanism will be provided for both contributors and voters to ensure continuous improvement of the program.
### Communication
Transparency in the voting and selection process is paramount.
- Regular updates on the program and the announcement of grant recipients will be shared with the community. - -
- Community members can track the vote numbers live, ensuring an open and transparent process.
