# 💸Budget Overview 2023/24: StV Informatik
Now that the study year is over, we want to give you an overview of what we did with last year's budget. Note that the overall ÖH budget has not yet been checked by our financial control committee, our tax attorney and the BMBWF - we have not yet received confirmation on our status. The overall ÖH budget is published here once all checks are complete: [https://oeh.jku.at/oeh-jku/finanzen](https://oeh.jku.at/oeh-jku/finanzen)
The image shows what the **StV Informatik** has used its yearly budget for in a simplified overview. See the thread for additional explanations. Also, on the topic of money: Don't forget to pay your tuition fee / ÖH fee for the next semester, see [öh-work](https://discord.com/channels/370458917073059841/755755202551873546/1221849114157912147) for more.

**Costs**
- **Events: 5900€**
As you can see, the StV invest a lot of money into events. Many of our events are also supported by the Faculty Representation (ÖH TNF). The biggest events by far are the Einstandsfest and the StV Grillerei - it is unsurprisingly pretty costly to hand out free food and drinks to hundreds of students.
- **Conferences: 3600€**
This year was dominated by conferences: In October we hosted a massive conference ("KIF 51.5") for CS student representatives all over Austria and Germany (see [here](https://oeh.jku.at/studium/tnf/informatik/transparency/projects) for more). In May we then visited our successors at [KIF 52.0](https://wiki.kif.rocks/wiki/KIF520:Hauptseite) in Kaiserslautern. During KIF 51.5, we also saw a need for more networking among Austrian student unions and founded ([ÖIDA](https://xn--ida-rna.at/)), which recently had its first conference in Graz.
- **Members' Benefits: 900€**
The Student Union consists of ca. 30 voluntary helpers. Once per semester, we are allowed to invite them for dinner to thank them for their commitment.
- **Inventory: 2700€**
This is where most of our left-over budget at the end of a year goes: This time, we used it to improve our hybrid meeting setup. We also bought a whole lot of cups, you'll see them in upcoming events. This will reduce our overall costs in the next years because we usually have to borrow them for events, and will make smaller events (where we use one-use equipment) more sustainable.
**Income**
- **ÖH Fee: 5300€**
Each semester, every student has to pay the ÖH fee (currently roughly 25€). Parts of it pay for your insurance, the rest is divided up between the different levels of representation based on a complicated formula (we ended up with about 23% of our students' ÖH fees). See more on that [here](https://www.oeh.ac.at/en/service/oeh-contribution/).
- **Sponsorships: 3800€**
We sometimes partner with companies to get additional funding: Last year was quite successful in this regard. Sponsorships last year included the Cloudflight Coding Contest and our company excursion.
- **Donations: 200€**
We sometimes ask for donations at our events. Because we were able to secure a lot of external funding this year, we did not have to ask for much. Note that some ÖH TNF events we supported (such as the JKU Games) operate on their own budget and directly re-invested any donations they got.
- **Contract Work: 4000€**
As part of KIF 51.5, the BMBWF tasked the orga team with writing a [report](https://oeh.jku.at/fileadmin/user_upload/StV_Informatik/Unterlagen/KIF_Erkenntnisbericht.pdf) of the conference. We decided to donate our fee to the StV.
**Budget for 2024/25:**
Since the ÖH fee was slightly increased this year, our Sachaufwand will be ca. 6200€ for the upcoming year. Given that we will most likely not host another KIF and will thus not be contracted by BMBWF again, we'll need to reduce our spending a bit or find new sponsors. If you happen to work at a company that would like to partner with us, shoot us a message :P
