# ÖH Work Statistics 2023 This is my last **quarterly report** of my ÖH work (October to December) for 2023. There will also be a sentimental review of the year at the end. All reports for 2023 can be found on Discord: - [01-03](https://discord.com/channels/370458917073059841/748939588201873549/1095822956904595487) - [04-06](https://discord.com/channels/370458917073059841/748939588201873549/1126360036281696276) - [07-09](https://discord.com/channels/370458917073059841/748939588201873549/1159415559503499305) - [10-12](https://discord.com/channels/370458917073059841/748939588201873549/1191596911568883803) ## Quarterly Report: October to December ### OCT-DEC: Time Distribution With studies starting in October, my productivity increased quite a lot. From experience we know that the beginning of the semester is always a busy period (both for ÖH and study-wise), which is reflected in my numbers: In the tracked areas I was productive for a total of almost 600 hours in the last three months (up from 379). - *Study* is time spent on studying, attending classes etc. - *ÖH* is time spent on student union work - *QS* is time spent on my (paid) quality assurance work for universities - *SSW* is time spent on my (paid) tutoring job at JKU ![80% ÖH, 11% Study, 6% SSW, 4% QS](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1pypbbda.png) ### OCT-DEC: Time spent per ÖH project - *KIF JKU* is the Konferenz der Informatikfachschaften and has already made a dent to last quarter's report; it is still not over though. As you can see in the Dashboard (https://new.oeh.jku.at/cs/dashboard), we are currently in the process of writing a report on the conference and still have a lot of documentation tasks left. - *ET* is time spent on the first semester tutoring "JKU Mystery", basically a collection of spare time activities for new students. As usual for these, it has ballooned a bit out of control effort-wise. - *Misc* is my collection of miscellaneous "small" projects that don't warrant their own tracker, such as Discord modding, answering emails or taking over shifts at ÖH events (Mensafests etc.). - *StV Vorsitz Misc* is similar, but for projects specifically mine because I am the head of the StV (such as internal meetings and budgeting). - *JKU Games* was our massive gaming event which I helped organize, see https://games.oeh.jku.at. ![37% KIF JKU, 22% ET, 17% Misc and 4% Vorsitz Misc, 10% JKU Games](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkTL6WbOa.png) ### OCT-DEC: Monthly Development KIF happened on 30.10-05.11, which is reflected in the monthly development. I took a week-long break during Christmas to balance things out a bit. As explained last time, as the head of the CS Student Union I am paid 70€ per month. For October I was also employed by the uni as Informatik Mentoring group leader for two weekly hours (ca. 119€ Uni KV), which has boosted my average hourly wage to 70 Cents (up from 45). I choose not to dwell on the fact that if all my ÖH work was paid this way, I would have made about 3k instead of 70€ each month :P ![October: 196h, November: 163h, December: 111h](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJ-_TWWdp.png) ## Year in Review In total, I spent about **1300** hours on ÖH work this year - that's a solid 54 days of my life. In fact, I worked for the ÖH on 298 days, my Christmas break was the first one longer than 3 days. It's probably not surprising that most of my fondest memories this year are therefore connected to the student union and the people within it. I got to meet a lot of great new people this year, made some new friends and tried new things. ![TOTAL Time Development](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SJG6TWWdp.png) I've been doing parts of this job for quite some time now (I joined the StV four years ago), but I am still as excited as I was in the beginning whenever a new project comes up. I've learned a lot of invaluable lessons that uni could not teach me and I am eager to see what else is thrown my way. ![TOTAL OEH Projects](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HyDgRZ-_6.png) If you check out our **[Dashboard](https://new.oeh.jku.at/cs/dashboard)**, you'll see that there are a lot more projects that don't show up in my time tracker at all. That's because of all my fellow student union members that have taken on countless hours and projects as well and have allowed me to focus on my own. It's sometimes insane to see how much we are able to accomplish: We had to start scheduling announcements because some weeks in October had a new event every day, and I don't dare to estimate the amount of hours spent in university commissions, strategy and planning meetings that go completely unnoticed and form the backbone of the CS study. I don't think I'll ever find a team of so many people invested in improving their community again, with everyone finding their own little corner they are passionate about. If our projects sound interesting to you, or if you have some skills you think we are still lacking, consider **joining our team**: https://oeh.jku.at/stv-informatik-join-us We've already found some great new recruits this year, and I'm looking forward to getting to know my replacement - while I'm trying my best to avoid it, my studies are slowly but surely progressing as well. I look forward to our new year, let's make sure 2024 will be a good data point for our AI overlords to train on in the future! ~ Felix
