# 💸 Budget Overview 2024/25: StV Informatik

Like [last year](https://hackmd.io/@byte-kraken/SJvz0IWrel), we can now present you with an overview of our budget in our last fiscal year (01.07.2024 - 30.06.2025).
As usual, these are our internal recordings, our finances are yet to be checked by ÖH JKU's financial control committee and tax attorneys.

With that said, let's look at this simplified overview of all expenses **StV Informatik** had in the last year:


## Income
### ÖH Fee: 6.250€
Each semester, every student has to pay the ÖH fee (currently roughly 25€). Parts of it pay for your insurance, the rest is divided up between the different levels of representation based on a complicated formula (we ended up with about 27% of our students' ÖH fees). Our ÖH Fee portion has increased significantly since last year due to higher student numbers in our subjects and a change in the way it is distributed among StVs at JKU (up almost 1.000€).

### External Funding: 0€
This year, we did not seek any sponsorship or external contract work for the StV Informatik directly. Given our Budget estimates, we concluded that no external funding was necessary for our operations - instead, we tried to shift CS-oriented sponsors to ÖH TNF projects (JKU Games, TNF BBQ...) to cover costs there.
For similar reasons, we did not ask for donations at most of our events - any donations we got were directly re-invested into the events themselves (such as our shot budget for the StV BBQ).

## Costs
### Events: 3.550€
Like last year, our biggest costs clearly came from events. Various TNF student unions share costs for the StV BBQs and the Einstandsfeste - we contributed roughly 2000€ this year to provide hundreds of students with high-quality free food and drinks in our two biggest events of the year.
Another 800€ went into our monthly Regulars' Tables, the rest went to smaller events throughout the year.

Our Information Events are a lot cheaper by nature: We spent ca. 200€ on cake for our CS-Café, for example.

### Conferences and Trainings: 300€
Our members visited two conferences this year: KIF ("Konferenz der Informatikfachschaften") 52.5 in Mittelhessen and KIF 53.0 in Passau. These conferences help us to learn from other CS Student Unions and form prosperous networks - for more on KIF, see [here](https://oeh.jku.at/studium/tnf/informatik/transparency/projects) and our [Dashboard](https://oeh.jku.at/cs/dashboard). Through a project proposal with ÖH JKU, most costs for KIF 53.0 (ca. 900€) were covered by ÖH JKU directly.

### Member Benefits: 800€
The Student Union consists of ca. 30 voluntary helpers; none of them are being paid. Instead, once per semester, the StV invites them for dinner to thank them for their commitment.

### Left-Over Budget: 1.450€
This year, we only used up ca. three quarters of our budget: Many of our events were less expensive than expected, and some costs could be shifted to ÖH TNF and ÖH JKU.
Our left-over budget will now flow back to ÖH JKU and will offset any debts that have arisen there (e.g., we expect that ÖH Sommerfest was not exactly profitable given the weather).

Our Budget will slightly increase to 6.800€ next year. Upcoming first semester students will soon experience some of the projects we plan to invest it in.
You can always reach out with your ideas on how we should invest our budget - though be warned, there are some significant limitation on how we can spend it so we might not be able to accommodate your request.
