Minecrafter Builds a Giant Halo ring that actually Freaking Spins

Home News Survival Minecraft Minecrafter creates a huge Halo ring that actually spins

By Lauren Morton published 4 January 22

It requires a few modifications however, you can download and explore it yourself.

A world made of cubes can't do circles. However, Minecraft players are not in any way afraid to defy logic and construct amazing round structures. One brave builder went further and threw out every rule in order to create a rotating ring. A complete, moving Halo rings with beam emitters, biomes and even a crashed Pelican. The best part is that you can download the ring and explore it yourself.

Reach A., one of the Minecraft YouTuber, claims his Halo ring was inspired by a design shared by another creator. While this smaller ring world is impressive but the comments on the post suggested that it would be even more cool If it actually worked. Reach was up to the challenge using WorldEdit and Create to create and engineer rings that actually move.

It was a serious undertaking. To control the ring's movement, he used the Clockwork Bearing blocks from the Create mod. It was found that the single clockwork bearing located at the edge of the ring's rim could not perform the task. "The first time I tried to move it and it didn't render due to the entity that was generated being too big for Minecraft to handle," he explains.

Reach decided to split it into four sections with an axis bearing that rotates, and an arm. When that still did not work, he ended up with eight bearings, all attached to sections of the ring like spokes. "I thought it wasn't going to work," he tells me, "but my stubbornness and determination to create something original for YouTube and my followers was enough to push me through." After all that? Holy hell, it moves!

If you'd like to experience the splendor of a ring world for yourself, you can download the project over on Planet Minecraft. It requires Minecraft 1.16. Once inside, you'll manually start the bearings to get them moving. Once it's on the ground, it'll continue to tick.

It doesn't move in a continuous manner and you won't have to keep up with the ever moving hamster wheel. The whole ring rotates in increments of 30 seconds. It's a good thing, as I felt a little disoriented and motion sick while exploring it as is. Pyramids It will take me a little longer to get my space legs. Reach had to lock each block together in order to make the ring spin correctly, so you won’t be able to build or build mine here. It's more of a diorama rather than a real world that you can play, but it's still a great experience.

Reach shares more details about his process in the YouTube video below. He explains the difficulties and the design choices he made in order to give the band the Halo look.

God bless the Minecraft builders.
