# General Building Guidelines

There are many general rules to follow when building in BTE, and this page serves as a list of guidelines that should be followed.

:::danger Watch out for outlines!

The #1 rule to follow in BTE is to **NEVER** use outlines generated by the server. Buildings are marked with either brick or yellow glazed terracotta, and roads are either marked with gray concrete or magenta glazed terracotta.

*The building outlines may be close, but they are not as accurate as when using tpll. Road outlines are never accurate, always too wide or too narrow.*

**These outlines are for reference only, and will be inaccurate. Usage of these outlines will result in a rejection from NABS.**

### Should I build interiors?

**No!** For privacy reasons, interiors of private buildings should never be built.

In some **public** locations, interiors may be built if they are necessary for the building to look accurate, **but you should always ask the staff in your team discord before building the interior of any location.**
