# EPF 5 Updates -- Week 1
This week was dedicated to exploration and delving into many concepts such as governance, ETH philosofy, how EIPS works, and the workings of the consensus/execution layer in a conceptual manner.
### Summary
During this first week, I have been diving into several topics on the [EPF Wiki](https://epf.wiki/#/). Additionally, I have learned a lot thanks to Tim during the office hour related to the Ethereum governance process. Tim also mentioned something about Danksharding, so I did a quick read about [what Danksharding is and how it works](https://ethereum.org/es/roadmap/danksharding/).
Additionally, I really liked the way Ethereum operates, as there isn't a specific core team. This approach prevents the centralization of its development. Consequently, anyone can contribute to Ethereum, making this technology decentralized from end to end.
## Next week
* I will research Verkle, SSZ, ePBS, stateless clients, EOF, and MEV to find a topic that genuinely interests me. This will allow me to start an in-depth study and eventually develop a project around it.
* I will also get in touch with core developers working on the topic I choose to gain deeper insights and guidance for my research and project development.
## Conclusion
This week has been an exciting start to understanding how Ethereum works. Although I am somewhat intimidated by the deep understanding many of my peers have of the Ethereum Protocol, I am taking this step by step. I hope to contribute to the Ethereum Protocol soon.
