# 4 Security Issue in Bogota
Security tips:
-Bogotá has a medium risk in security, and the most common crimes include theft, pickpocketing, and purse snatching. False money and credit card fraud are also frequent types of scams.
-As in any other major city, we recommend standard security precautions, i.e., not leaving alone after dark, and special attention to taxis, as drivers try to trick foreigners into charging excessive amounts. There is also the possibility of kidnappings, with the most common strategy being to capture victims in taxis.
-Fake police are known to operate in Bogota to conduct scams
-Be aware of pickpocket and use of drug to conduct kidnapping/robbery
