# Fleek Network - Townhall intro ## Townhall Hey everyone, hope all is good. I am mahmoud. Today I am excited to introduce Fleek Network, so let me tell you about it. But before that ive tweeted a document if you want to follow along. So what is Fleek Network? it is an effort to decentralize Fleeks's entire stack. and Today we are starting with an important piece in our stack, which is the the content deleivery network CDN. - So why are we starting with the CDN? - as you all know every website requiers a CDN, everyone rerquires one nowadsays. Its everywhere and is a requirement for a seamless user experience. - So the quick summary of our CDN and what we want to achieve: - accelerating content in web3 - NFTs from anywhere, opensea - websites, hosted on ipfs arweave, if you have - also we are accelerating general storage, as we are - We are data driven: - 80% of fleek traffics is storage and 20% websites - Cisco estimates that globally - Globally, consumer Internet video traffic will be 81% of consumer Internet traffic in 2021, up from 72% in 2016. - Globally, gaming traffic will be 6% of consumer Internet traffic in 2021, up from 2% in 2016. - while website and others make up the rest - Our cdn will exhibt this behaviour and how is it different - agnostic cdn - if you have data we are going to accelerate it - decentralized - scale with demand - interoperable - robust - p2p - How we are achieving this: - uisng cutting edge p2p and consensus: - p2p - trustless p2p - ipld - IPLD is the data model of the content-addressable web. - address by hash instead of location - consenus - using narwhal and bullshark instead of hotstuff - enable 100k+ txn/s - provide superior performance, robustness, and scalability. - filecoin - presistance - indexers - Accelerates content routing and discovery - gateway - cache content on the gateways - accelerate web3 data - accelerate ipfs data - Where are we now - We are going on missions - We are done the First exploration - we have a first version of the node running - consensus using narwhal and bullshark reaching 50k tx/s we just ran some tests this week and looking to improve and benchmark higher numbers with more nodes. - Future of Fleek Network: - as I mentioned we want to decentralize our entire stack starting with the CDN layer. - CDN => which interanlly we are calling Ursa - Then we have Compute - compute over data - espcially content addressable is important - unlocks many features for the CDN - To sum up quickly: - Our goal is to build a network which is trustless, censorship-resistant, and resilient. With Fleek's protocol, it’s the community itself that will deliver the content and hold any data about the network and its usage. - The Fleek network will build on existing decentralized content protocols. These existing platforms have their own purposes like long-term storage (Filecoin), P2P storage, encoding, and transport (IPFS). The Fleek network aims to work with these by adding a caching and performant delivery layer on top. Furthermore, we would like to extend these protocols so that users can interact with the network directly instead of only being able to go through HTTPS (see more on that in the Future Work section). - We are going to release official documents soon, along side our repos and paper. stay tuned for that. In the mean time, I encourage you to read through the document pinned. Thank you
