# Octant Grant Application Content
## Introduction
We are honored to submit this grant application on behalf of [PublicHaus](https://publichaus.club/). PublicHaus is **...** of the [DAOhaus](https://daohaus.club/) protocol. DAOhaus has consistently evolved, transitioning into a no-code platform in its second version for effortless summoning of Moloch v2 DAOs and now built upon the Moloch v3 DAO contracts. This evolution underscores our unwavering commitment to decentralized governance and infrastructure, embodied both in DAOhaus and its associated meta-governance appendage, [PublicHaus](https://publichaus.club/). Our belief in the power of DAOs to empower communities and overcome traditional bureaucratic limitations is the driving force behind our endeavors.
Our team, known as [Bootleggers](https://bootleggers.wtf/), is a sub-DAO of genesis members and core contributors within the DAOhaus ecosystem, carrying forward the spirit of working in public and decentralized iteration. Our diverse background includes co-founding [RaidGuild](https://www.raidguild.org/), overseeing core operations of the Really Boring Guild within [Moloch DAO](https://molochdao.com/) (the original grant awarding DAO), founding the web3 cultural initiative [Pluriverse](https://pluriverse.wtf/), and contributing as competent hackers on numerous small projects throughout the web3 ecosystem.
Our wealth of experience uniquely positions us to address the pressing issue of accountability between project teams and grant-awarding organizations. Our continuous efforts within RaidGuild have exposed us to innovative solutions for coordinating between clients and freelancers such as [Dungeon Master](https://dm.raidguild.org/), our internal-facing CRM, and [Smart Invoice](https://smartinvoice.xyz/), enhancing escrow capabilities. Despite these efforts and the various approaches witnessed throughout the ecosystem, a significant accountability problem persists. The potential of this project to further enhance the effectiveness and reach of DAOs is immense, contributing significantly to the broader movement towards decentralized governance and community empowerment.
## Problem Statement
- **Lack of Clear Mechanism:**
- No clear, permissionless, and trustless accountability mechanism exists between project teams and various community forms.
- **Integration Issues:**
- Numerous existing solutions do not work seamlessly together.
- None are directly integrated with the DAOhaus platform or tethered to the Moloch DAO contracts.
- **Disconnect Between Solutions:**
- A significant gap between soft, off-chain, and cultural solutions and the concrete on-chain, hard governance mechanisms of Moloch DAOs.
- Without integration and association, these problems continue to affect individual communities and the entire ecosystem.
- **Impact on Coordination:**
- The ongoing issues inhibit enhanced levels of coordination:
- Peer-to-peer
- Team-to-organization
- Organization-to-organization
In light of these challenges, the need for an accountability app for the DAOhaus platform, which promises seamless integration and enhanced accountability, is paramount.
## Hypothesis
- **Adaptation of Existing Solutions:**
- Suspect that some existing solutions might be adapted for quick and easy integration.
- Aim to avoid repeating work and reinventing the wheel.
- **Absence of a Comprehensive App:**
- No single, fully realized app currently exists that solves this problem out of the box.
- If such an app existed, it would likely be in use already.
- **Integration into DAOhaus Protocol:**
- By researching and combining composable Legos, and integrating them into our DAOhaus protocol, we aim to enhance the functionality for all existing DAOhaus DAOs.
- Addressing the core problem at the source to create a generalized solution that enhances coordination across all existing DAOhaus communities.
- **Beginning of a New Suite:**
- This effort is hypothesized to be the tip of the iceberg for a new suite of composable, open-source, public goods bolt-ons to the DAOhaus platform.
- Continues our ongoing commitment to unlocking powerful coordination for all DAO communities.
Our hypothesis revolves around the adaptation and integration of existing solutions into the DAOhaus protocol to address core accountability and coordination problems, laying the foundation for a comprehensive suite of tools and enhancements for the DAOhaus platform and its communities.
## Solution Statement
- **Iterative Problem-Solving Approach:**
- The solution will not be a super DApp.
- An iterative process, addressing one problem at a time, understanding each issue's integral and entangled relation to other problem spaces.
- **Building an Accountability App:**
- Propose to build an open-source, public good accountability app as an addition to the DAOhaus platform.
- This app will enhance the existing capabilities of the DAOhaus platform.
- **Features of the Accountability App:**
- The app will allow project teams to render visible the complex social and cultural promises alongside concrete, quantifiable accountability metrics.
- Enables clearer evaluation and compensation to teams upon completing their goals.
The proposed solution is the development and integration of an accountability app for the DAOhaus platform, designed to address the multifaceted challenges of accountability and coordination within the ecosystem, enhancing project visibility, evaluation, and team compensation.
