# Starsector Modpacks ## Bobbah's Big Mod Pack (BBMP) \[0.96a\] This is my first modpack... Designed to be an expanded vanilla-ish experience... Make sure you check out the instructions for how to install and use the pack below. ### Installing To make this modding experience ezpz we use a thing called [Mod Organiser for StarSector (MOSS)](https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=21995). The most notable thing this is going to do for us is setup our game to use Java 8, which is experimental but provides a lot of performance improvements. **If you DONT use this, make sure to at least configure the game to run with more RAM allocated as by default its 1.5GB which is not nearly enough.** Download the latest release of MOSS here: [MOSS Releases on GitHub](https://github.com/atlanticaccent/starsector-mod-manager-rust/releases) Download the latest release of the modpack here: [BBMP_v1.zip (444MB)](https://cdn.melonmesa.com/BBMP_v1.zip) #### How to use MOSS + Modpack 1. Download the latest release above, put it in a folder somewhere. (I made a MOSS folder on my desktop for example) 2. Ensure you have the latest version of Starsector installed, if you have an old version you can simply run the new installer over the old location and it'll update to the new version. 3. Launch MOSS **as an administrator** using the file you downloaded and direct it to your Starsector directory. If Starsector is in Program Files (which it is by default) you need to run it as admin to do the JRE8 upgrade. ![image](https://imgur.com/0xNX5yK.png) 4. Once the Starsector directory is set, go to Settings in the top-left, and click ``Open JRE Switcher`` to reveal the JRE Switcher tool. Click on install below Azul Zulu (JRE 8v362). ![image](https://imgur.com/SUnNONH.png) 1. If you run into an error about access, make sure you are running MOSS as an admin for this upgrade. 5. Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a location of your choice, return to MOSS and select ``Install Mod(s)`` at the top of your MOSS. Select all of the downloaded contents of the ``Step 1 - Install these with MOSS`` folder within the downloaded ZIP. 9. Once all of the mods have installed successfully check-mark the check beside each in the ``Enabled`` (left-most) column within MOSS. You should now have 25 installed and active mods. Next go to your install directory, like ``C:\Program Files (x86)\Fractal Softworks\Starsector`` and overwrite the ``vmparams`` with one of the provided ``vmparams`` files in the ``Step 2 - Use one of these vmparams`` folder. This folder contains several options, each folder contains a ``vmparams`` file which allocates the denoted amount of RAM. This is like setting the RAM parameters for Minecraft, choose appropriately. I used 8GB for example, since I have 32GB of RAM. 11. In the launcher go to ``Options...`` and set antialiasing to ``Off``. Otherwise your game will close and you will be told to do this. You probably want to set UI scale to a multiple of 100 to avoid issues, like ``100%``, ``200%``, etc... 12. Very popular. | [Forum Post](https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=13236.0) | ### Notes for specific mods #### GraphicsLib This mod has some specific notes for AMD GPUs, but they shouldn't effect the modpack unless you change the modpack itself. #### Upgraded Rotary Weapons Technically this mod is a version out of date but within the modpack I've just edited the version in the JSON file to let it run anyway. There's no reported issues on the latest version of Starsector that I could find, so it should be good. ### General Notes I wanna check out [Ashes of The Domain](https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=26307.0) later (megamod) but it's incompatible with Nexerelin (can swap it out for that at some point)
