# @inputs,@output, next and from their status v0.0.1
note: Welcome. Here we are gonna talk about how from, @inputs, @outputs and from works and how we show the status of the inputs and outputs and also indicate whether a task is still open or done.

note: Almost all the tasks, require some sort of `@input` document link.
----

note: and there are even cases where we take multiple input documents. These input files are used to build something new or maybe something to be improved upon. There are 2 ways we use `@input`.
----

note: If our `@input` is something which is produced in another issue we link to that issue using `from`
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/D7CSe6V.png)
note: If the document is produced within the same issue. A link to an @input document can never have more than one issue it is from.
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/6SxuXm4.png)
note: every task group has to produce at least one @output
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/F1a79AS.png)
note: we link to that @output document and
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/8bVI2DS.png)
note: we also link to the specific same issue worklog comment that introduced the output labeling the link with โfromโ. Note that all the `from` comments only appear on the completed output
----

note: Such as this comment over here.
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/GepAef0.png)
note: Note that all the `from` comments only appear on the completed output
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/YiL0j8y.png)
note: If the output is planned and not yet produced then we only mention the document without any links or comment
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/IyghUmz.png)
note: If there are any tasks anywhere which use a specific `@output` document as one of their `@input` documents, we mention all those issues as bullet points below the `@output` document link and label them with โnextโ. Every output can have multiple next issue links.
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/VXaSDHc.png)
note: Furtheremore, Each output or input can have one of 3 possible status. Planned (=) in-progress (= :factory:) and done (= :package:).
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/ouCc0Dy.png)
note: Planned output are represented with a , in this case there is no comments
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/8ZKBSgV.png)
note: tasks which are in progress are represented using :factory:. This can only happen if an output follows multiple tasks in a task group that do not ahve outputs themselves, where for example the first task group task created the new output document and the last task group task finishes the output document.
----
![](https://i.imgur.com/fLowQX2.png)
note: and lastly tasks which are done/completed are mentioned using :package: emoji. Any task with an immediate output usually switched from  to :package: skipping the :factory: status.
----
When it is the final output (๐ = checkered_flag),
(๐:question: = a planned final project output),
(๐:package: = a finished final project output)
note: if an output is not used in the same issue as an input for another (sub)task and also has no next field to specify a different issue where it is linked as a task input, then it is a final project output marked with ๐ in addition to any other status like  or :package:
for example :checkered_flag::question: is a planned final project output :checkered_flag::package: is a finished final project output
----
Thanks
note: Thatโs all for this video, thanks for watching
