# NEAR UA Launches validator on NEAR Protocol
NEARUA launches own validator on NEAR Protocol.
The new validator will split staking rewards between
NEAR UA and donations to ukraine's ministri of digital transformation wallet in proportion 2/3 and 1/3 respectively.
2/3 of staking rewards will be use to support validator infrastructure and 1/3 will go as donations to Ukrainian Armed Forces.
# What is it validator
Validators are responsible for producing blocks and the security of the NEAR network. In the NEAR Proof-of-Stake network, a decentralized pool of validators process transactions to keep the network secure. In return, these validators receive a reward for doing so. This system also allows delegators – entities that would like to provide security but may not have the hardware to do – to delegate their tokens to validators.
