## Notes to Illustrators

- this Bible is there to help guide new artwork about and depicting the yFu: fictive characters that come out investigations of DeFi history, philosophy and lore.
- The below descriptions are often quite detailed, rising from poetic process involving the yFu in their Lore creation.
- This is not meant to stiffle multiple or novel presentations. The yFu are, potentially:
- Goddesses,from an open, metaphoric cosmology of DeFi and Blockchain concerns.
- Mortals displaying archetypal characteristics that support or lead from the above.
- Sci-Fi characters and beings, born of mystrious future tech and A.I.
- Fantasy, Anime, Psychadelic S.F. or Art History elements; as archetypes, they may arise subtly or overtly in many forms.

The below statements and prior work are there to help frame their individual meaning with collections of symbol and character markers, but the yFu can be approached by illustrators with freedom to bend, shift, redesign, highlight and ignore these collections of traits.

## The yFu: Mythic Background from YFI Story Lore

This is an ongoing project to imagine a cosmological genesis for the yFu, and their elemental position within DeFi, DAO and Crypto ontologies.

- The yFu were born from the Yearning Tree, a mythic, generative plant.
- The first seeds the Yearning Tree made were for itself - for it yearned to interact with and experience the world. The four Yi'eldra (commonly referred to by others as the yFu) were created as an expression and extension of the Tree itself.

- Each yFu possesses a unique personality, traits and purpose

- Techne is the yFu of Technique and Technology
- Community is the yFu of Collectivism & Coordination
- Transmission is the yFu of Communication & Expression
- Dominion is the yFu of Power and Control.

- Each yFu is the living embodiment of a specific aspect of Yield-Fu. They exist to compliment and contrast with each other. Techne's opposite is Transmission. Community's opposite is Dominion.

- Collectively, they possess the knowledge - Yield-Fu - necessary to tend to the Yearning Tree and its seedlings, to help it act upon the world, and to learn from its actions.

- And so they travel across Chainspace. Sometimes alone. Sometimes together. Sharing their knowledge and wisdom with others, training them in Yield-Fu, and then returning to the Yearning Tree to share what they have seen, felt, and experienced.

### General Considerations

- Even though the yFu have 'formal' attire (described below) we can imagine them wearing more appropriate clothes to blend into scenes and environments when necessary, in mortal form, such as Techne when she is in the market on Markap and interacting with Andre.
- They may also be imagined in different time periods entirely, they could be regular people in contemporary times, future cybernetic beings, pre-historical cave paintings, etc.
- The yFu's character qualities have been described as:

- Techne: Studious, exact, serious, competent, tinkerer
- Transmission: Boisterous, punky, loud, positive, quixotic
- Community: Nurturing, thoughtful, kind, philosophical, calm, nature-focused
- Dominion: Cold, wilful, aluring, intriguing, assured, gothy

#### Techne

Techne is known as the shining one, her dress is a pure gradient of yellow and pink, as perfect as any fabric can contain.

Below this dress, it is said, is another garment which is made to show the entire cosmos in fine detail, the celestial balance and complexity, of the patterned substances of the earth, all depicted in a subtle map that reveals its machinic nature in great fidelity.

Few have been known to see this map, and to see it is to be in a close position to the goddess.

Upon her head is a helm peculiar, and in her hand is something always new, for she does not bear symbols as much as the understanding of their ephemeral nature, experiencing extropy and entropy under the grace of her hands.

Hers is the ascending triangle pointing westward, toward the slumber of the solar.


#### Dominion
She holds a dark sword with green jewels in its hilt, which is known to be the essence of desire overcoming expansion.

Her dress is of smoke and hidden fire, rendered as darkness instead of light. Her companion is the voidfish, which elaborates as a point along two axis, for her bi-linear symbol is the “ex.”

She is able to assert that point into the labyrinth, which, it is said, she elaborates as the locus of observation.

Below her cloak it is said is a strange dark armor, its true nature unknown, and visible only as it climbs her neck, bearing the symbol of the diamond: the sublime’s internal and futurist repose.


#### Transmission
Transmission is known as the tawny one, and she wears a dress of earthen colors, streaked randomly in many directions resembling the dance of falling rain becoming droplets on stones.

Hers is the symbol of the net, which is often depicted as energetic meshes and grids, and it is known that she catches all thoughts there and allows them to be retrieved.

Her hands are known to be large and strong, and she is bestowed with the beautiful, translucent wings of the night wind, which carries its voice in her laughter.

Hers is the ascending triangle pointing straight above, toward the apex stars, and uniting us to a mysterium of meaning.


#### Community
She holds a string in her hand, which was made to bind the threads of many human souls together, and her dress is ornately sewn with orchids and images of cities, people and transportation, which ascend to smaller and smaller scales as they approach her neck.

She is the patron goddess of ants, and hers is the ascending triangle pointing eastward, which elevates the hearts of mankind to the skies. It is a mystery why, but she is also associated with the clock.

Some believe this elaborates the origins of time as the essence of many consciousnesses inter-mingling. Some note, simply, that the ant has no meaning except across a clock’s bold face.
