There are a ton of ways to contribute to the crypto space. One interesting niche is MEV:
The Web2 equivalent would be security / CTF / reverse engineering to exploit existing protocols and products. Except in crypto, code is law and you're free to exploit and keep anything you find in the wild (instead of reportingn it for a measly bounty).
I personally think MEV is technically interesting, but don't think it's the right path for me:
The better route for me instead of trading / investing / MEV would be to launch or build my project. My own personal wealth then comes in the form of ownership of a large amount of tokens.
What kind of project?
I admire people like Dom, punk4156, that launch projects just for the sake of fun and experimentation (Loot, Nouns, crypto games). People who can affect the culture of the space. I'm more drawn to tools or projects that solve a problem or fill a missing need. I think it's just easier to be working on something that you know has some practical use for some people.
