На "столе" были разложены, в основном, бутерброды, отличавшиеся друг от друга только начинкой. В центре, на развернутой фольге, возлежала аппетитная, с невероятным запахом, курочка, приготовленная нашим гениальным поваром Ли. Сглотнув невольную слюну, я спросила: – Ли, а где ж ты курочку-то здесь, среди чужеземных топей и болот, откопал? Да еще и умудрился приготовить ее! Ли самодовольно улыбнулся и сказал: – Это большой секрет, Викки! И не проси рецепт, я даже тебе его не открою, иначе как я тебя буду удивлять? Лучше подсаживайся побыстрее и приступай к трапезе. Чует сердце – нам вряд ли дадут много времени на отдых и обед. Ну, и меня, и остальных членов команды долго упрашивать не пришлось. Вскоре мы наслаждались необыкновенным вкусом курочки, пили чай с бутербродами. Только мы успели закончить обед, как наш "рулевой" скомандовал: – Привал окончен! После вкусного и сытного обеда настроение улучшилось. Мы даже время от времени подшучивали друг над другом, затем стали обмениваться своими наблюдениями над космической гостьей, которую лицезрели сначала в обсерватории базы, а затем уже во время нашего путешествия. Приготовьте шесты, обуйте сапоги либо обмотайте ноги чем-либо водонепроницаемым. Как только будете готовы, мы вновь тронемся. Идти придется след-в-след, на маршруте быть предельно внимательными, любые разговорчики в строю запрещены! – А как быть, если вдруг кому-либо понадобится помощь? Молча идти ко дну? – не удержалась я от очередной колкости в адрес нашего, всегда правильного, шефа. Он неодобрительно посмотрел в мою сторону и произнес: – Естественно, если кому-то понадобится помощь, надо открыто заявить о ней. Я говорил о ненужных, лишних разговорах во время перехода через болото. И... хватит уже разводить дискуссии - пора в путь. И, не дожидаясь нашей реакции на свое высказывание, он развернулся и пошел по узкой тропе.
