The best times to visit this trail are March through October. This circuit of the Col de Balme offers breathtaking views of the Chamonix valley, Mont-Blanc, and the Glaciers which form the border between France and Switzerland. From the village of Le Tour, you will start your ascent on a path in the forest before finding the path that runs along the Aiguillette des Posettes to the Alpage de Balme where you can take a break and enjoy the splendid views. You will pass by the Col des Posettes to the Tête de Balme culminating at 2321 m altitude. You will cross the source of the Arve river which flows into the Chamonix valley before descending towards Le Tour. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. Here is stage 10 of the Tour du Mont Blanc, one of the most beautiful. Leaving from Trè-le-Champ, it passes through the six Lacs de Chéserys and the Refuge du Lac Blanc at an altitude of 2352 metres, on the shores of Lac Blanc. The Flégère refuge marks the finish point of this stage. This superb hike of about 10 kilometers from La Flégère, near Chamonix-Mont-Blanc will take you to the Lacs de Chéserys and Lac Blanc in the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve. The return is via the Index chairlift. You will be able to contemplate the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains throughout this route. ## Planpraz from Flégère 5.0(7) Length12.1 km Elevation gain668 m Route type Circular https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/explore/trail/france/haute-savoie/planpraz-depuis-la-flegere Head out on this 12.1-km circular trail near Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, Haute-Savoie. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 28 min to complete. This trail is great for hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Here is a superb hike on the heights of the Chamonix Valley. From the Flégère chairlift (access from Les Praz), the trail joins the Balcon Sud at Planpraz and returns to the starting point via the Liaison. You can also complete this route in the other direction. You will have a beautiful view of Mont-Blanc all along the way. It is possible to go up and down the trail by chairlift. The Brevent-Planpraz chairlift is easily accessible from the Chamonix tourist office, and the La Flégère chairlift is accessible from Le Praz de Chamonix.
