# CALL WITH ECURRENCYHODLER - ED'S NOTES
# Persona Feedback Questionaire
## 1.1 Your Project
### What are you currently working on?
Currently no but I did work for a bitcoin brokerage in marketing.
### Are you working on launching an entirely new product, or rolling out new features to an existing product?
Type here...
...
### Are there any key design challenges you've been working on?
Type here...
### What is your role in the team?
- [ ] Designer
- [ ] Developer
- [x] Other (Marketing Department)
## 1.2 Demographics
### What demographic/audience are you currently designing for?
He seemed to believe that the US is the main focus for most designers and developers in the bitcoin spac
### Which demographic (if any) do you have trouble targeting/understanding?
When I was working at the bitcoin brokerage, we were targeting high networth individuals. They tend to be more relationship driven so that was a challenge.
Another one was that we weren’t allowed to use traditional ad platforms like FB ads or Twitter because we were a cryptocurrency related product.
...
## 1.3 User Motivations, Frustrations, and Traits
### What user motivations are you looking for?
Since you weren’t able to advertise yourself on some of the most used apps did that create any problems with understaning your targets motivations and frustrations?
Mmmm not relaly. It just made customer acquisition more challenging. We did user interviews with people who we built personas around.

## 1.4 Persona Feedback
### After reading our user persona, was there any information that you found particularly useful/unuseful?
It was hard to find context (because he doesn't design for that country). But it's good to have a mixture of personas.
One struggle you will find is how to integrate user personas into your design (are you finding geographical or cultural personas). A lot of the focus for bitcoin seems to be towards people from the developed world (US in particular).
It's good your doing work outside of this space, but one struggle you might find is how to categorise your user personas so that people can leverage them. Geographical, societal, cultural.
...
He found it interesting, but difficult to understand some parts because he doesn't come from the same culture.
Usually when people talk about personas, they automatically assume you are talking about someoen from US, but this is different so it's interesting.
He mentioned that one of the problems might be categorizing the persona. How is that going to look?
Asked do we think that general impact of COVID-19 will really going to have the same importance as now?
### After seeing our Country page (Rwanda), was there any data you would have like to have seen listed along with demographics, payment providers, etc?
Type here...
### Was there anything essential that you thought was missing?
One thing that could be missing is "How familiar are they will technology, and what types (mobile/computer). Are they familiar at all, do we need to automate processes"
Context around the current infrastructure of payment systems in each country would be really useful information. Gives an idea of *why* they use cash or feel safer with it (in this example...)
...
### If you could have asked this persona (or another from your target demographic) 3 targeted questions, what would they be?
Some of the best user personas people can create are for specific products. E.g what's a good personas for nodes, lightning, KYC, onboarding, etc...
What's the product in mind, or design challenge you wish to find. If I'm a dev, its useful to find broad information, but I want to find particular perspectives on targeted issues (e.g KYC or Onboarding)
- I would have liked to know their tech experience, what type of technology their using (Mobile/Desktop/None)
- Why do they prefer to take cash over a mobile payment? What apps are available already for that to happen? Is there an app like CashApp/Venmo?
-
...
### Could you provide us with any feedback on the persona design/layout/visual + information hierachy?
Some sort of cultural/background information on the personas (infrastructure etc) would be great. I can then put context to their motivations and frustrations... give me a fuller picture of what's going on.
Depending on how you structure these profiles, it might be useful to give a general overview of financial and cultural infrastructure before reading the personas. This way the designer can flow through information as they need it and picking up context as they go. If not, at least some sort of box with this basic informatoion.
...
### Would you find open-source user persona repo useful for your financial product?
I think it could be useful for sure. There's a guy on slack called Jamaal who's doing something specifically for bitcoin core, he's focuses around archetypes - so he might be good to talk to.
...
### Are there any areas you'd like to see researched more deeply/would be of use to you?
Tech proficiency, in particular. It's good to know what tech people have, but it's more important to know how well they can use it. My granny has a smart phone, but she's not "familiar" with it. Gives developer perspective on how competent the user is with tech (e.g do we have to automate extra processes).
Banking/Financial regulation information would also be super useful. Also gives context as to why these finanial apps don't exist yet!
### Were there any similarities to other personas you've worked with?
Prefer to use online TX, particularly with high value. I was surprised how important cash was for these people.
If i was to take cash from another job, I would take it through something like Venmo. Do they have an app like that? If so, it might offer an easier way into bitcoin.
### Do you think we're taking the right approach to user personas?
What you're doing is different. We always targeted users for a product or specific design challenge, so we would have gone through screening processes and onboarding experiences that make sure we're targeting useful candidates and creating accurate personas. What you're doing is more broad, which is also useful - it's just different.
