I work at a Cake defi as a visual designer. ### Are you working on launching an entirely new product, or rolling out new features to an existing product? Mostly new features. Cake has been going for a year or so. ... ### Are there any key design challenges you've been working on? Biggest challenge of cryptocurrency has been *education* . The people that don't know about it, don't use it. Steep learning curve. It's a challenge to onboard new users. As a designer, you also have the challenge of learning these things yourself. Specific design challenges he had is education, educating people on crypto is very hard, people don't know about it, getting people from newbies nd gettin them to crypto is a challenge. Adoption is hard. He would also liek to know if in other countries people use USSD, there are peopel who dont have access to internet. ### What is your role in the team? - [x] Designer - [ ] Developer - [ ] Other (Please Specify) ## 1.2 Demographics ### What demographic/audience are you currently designing for? I can't really give any specific information about marketing at Cake defi, but our users come from all over the world. I'd prefer if the questions are directed at me as an individual rather than my role at work. A lot of the projects I've worked on (in Nigeria) are to do with FinTech. Lots of products in terms of transfering, and saving money. Crypto is also emerging. Factors you have to take into account are things like: - Internet speeds - Access to technology - Fraud ### Which demographic (if any) do you have trouble targeting/understanding? Answer ... ## 1.3 User Motivations, Frustrations, and Traits ### What user motivations are you looking for? I could determine it was an *actual* human being. I enjoyed the conversational and human feel to the persona. I like how the person was *honest* about how they could save more money this year. It was very current and relevant. ... I like the persona, you know it's a real human being and not an scenarion someone created. I like the context, I like how personas can be used in several ways from different people in different indistries. ### What user traits are you looking for? Demographics are really useful. It gives me an idea of what language, tone, and copy to use. I find the data around age and type of technological adoption useful. On the most part, people who have a basic level of education can use a financial product. ... Wants to see some demographic data like population size, median age and some basic information about education. ### Which user problems/frustrations are you looking to solve? Answer ... ## 1.4 Persona Feedback ### After reading our user persona, was there any information that you found particularly useful/unuseful? I definitely found it interesting to see how they handled money, and that their prefered method was *Cash* . It makes you ask, "what are the things I can do to move this person from cash to my platform"? Having some idea of regulatory restrictions in that region. FinTech is very regulated, and sometimes this is the key factor that determines the success of a fintech startup in certain areas. ... Yes, there's some valuable information on there. It would also be nice if there were a way to capture regulatory restrictions for online banking in the persona's location so as to know what's currently possible and what's not, although I'm aware capturing this would be deviating a bit from the person. ### After seeing our Country page (Rwanda), was there any data you would have like to have seen listed along with demographics, payment providers, etc? - Demongraphics already captured - Volume of digital TXs (get idea of adoption of digital payment systems are in a region) - Combination of quantitative and qualitative research Money services providers are useful for seeing adoption in regions, and familiar technologies. ### Was there anything essential that you thought was missing? Since the person's technical knowhow is 7, I'd like to learn about their previous experiences with digital finance products and why they've not fully adopted online banking I would like to know if USSD banking (dialing a certain code and completing transactions through it) would be an option for this person. I'd like to get a precise rating of this person's trust for online/digital banking ... ### If you could have asked this persona (or another from your target demographic) 3 targeted questions, what would they be? - Want to know how much trust this individual has with digital finance products. It's not always about how good your product is, I want to know how much trust they have in a product. - In Nigeria, we have a USSD service. I want to know if using USSD codes is an option the individual would consider? Again, question of region and regulation. The barrier between internet access and digital payments has narrowed due to phone payments. ... ### Could you provide us with any feedback on the persona design/layout/visual + information hierachy? Challenge was "Context" - what is the particular use of this persona? Ed: Could we solve this with tagging? e.g This persona could be used for digital products, etc ... ### Would you find open-source user personas useful for your financial product? It will come in handy when I'm trying to understand how people think and use money, as well as quantitative data for regions. It's going to be very useful, but it doesn't relate to my target audience at this point in time. Another area its going to be very handy is doing research for regions that don't have much public information and data. Finding info for places like Trinidad & Tobago is really useful as a designer. ... ### Are there any areas you'd like to see researched more deeply/would be of use to you? Most of the products I've worked on are Nigerian products. So for me it's good to organise conversations, sessions, etc with locals. However, I can see your products being useful for remote designers and teams! ... ... ... ##### Thank you for your time :)
