1/. @sqcrypto Bitcoin Design Community Call #4

This week we'll be focusing on inclusive user research for bitcoin wallets. We'll be discussing "extreme" or #PowerUsers, as well as how to use research tactics to create inclusive design principles.

Shout out to @conorokus and @jamaal for hosting. Here we go!👇

2/. As designers, we want to ask ourselves the question, "who are we designing for?". But more importantly, "who aren't we currently designing for?"

Demographical factors such as age, sex, ethinicity, and location are important in determining user motivations, values, and frustrations. Importantly, we want to create user personas that include both Power Users and margin use cases too, which often expands beyond these demographical boundaries. After all, we're designing wallets for a borderless currency, right?

4/. We also look to use expert interviews to figure out who the core group of "extreme" users of your platform are, and what values, traits, motivations, and frustrations they hold too. This will in turn determine which problems need to be solved and in which order of importance to improve UX.

For example, if most users value privacy above anything else, so how can we take this into consideration when designing a wallet?

5/. As mentioned, it's also important that we also target margin use cases and their research data to develop personas, exploring ways of how to onboard a wider audience and design inclusively.

6/. As designers, how can we:

- Get to the heart of what matters to people (particurlarly "extreme" core users)
- Avoiding premature validation of design questions
- Broaden our user research and data sets
- And prioritise values and key features for the rolling out new features, or developing from scratch.

7/. How is Bed.Money different to Power User research?

- We help shine a light on personas from frontier economies
- Focusing on edge cases from regions and demographics that are often hard to access or don't see lots of attention.
- Look at Open Money Initative for research into closed and collapsing economies.
- Look at Project Horizon which is lead by Jamaal which is researching Bitcoin Full Node and Bitcoin Core GUI personas
