## Vantage Points

### Philosphy
*(The fundamental--usually hidden--beliefs that unite the components of an Enterprise, enabling them to act as a cohesive whole. Properly applied, philosophy enables both innovation and stability. For a company, ulimately this comes from outside, either from the investors committing resources, or customers who pay for products & services.)*
Fix the world through open infrastructure where peers thrive in diverse, interconnected communities.
Empower the world through open infrastructure based on decentralized, collaborative technologies.
### Culture & Mission

*(Defines the various components of the Enterprise and their relationship to one another in action. Also encompasses standard behaviors of these components--behaviors which are manifestations of the Philosophy. For a company, this Culture is comes from the organizations Board of Directors representing their investors.) *
**Secure the world through open infrastructure**
### Policy

*(At the broadest level, statements of purpose, intent and goals. At a narrower level, Policy can specify boundaries on the design and prosecution of Strategy, Tactics, Logistics and Tasks. Policy states the rules of the game. For a company, Policy is defined by Board but implemented by the Exective Team. )*
Quote: “The essence of strategy is choosing what not to do.” — Michael Porter
**Synergy**: Focus on projects that have high mutual synergy. Don't do projects that don't serve more than one purpose or more than one community?
**Commons**: Focus on projects that invest, support, and increase reslience of ecosystem commons. Support common goood**. Don't do projects that are not focused on mutual good.
**"Grow the Pie":** Focus on projects that help the entire ecosystem including the company. Don't do projects that temp vendor lock-in & rent-seeking, patents, or other forms of centrality.
**??**
* Start at the bottom of the stack. (don't do L2 until you understand L1, and if there is in fact a hidden L0)
* Understand principles first. (Avoid projects that you don't know the first principles of)
* Find invisible architectures and either build around them or leverage them. (Avoid projects that you don't understand the hidden centralities and privileges. )
* Educate "teach to fish", result is that improve the wisdom of the commons
* Try to design and architect first, and be prepared that first may need to be thrown away or re-factors. iterate, but carefully.
* Collaboration & community vs. solo projects?
* whole is greater than the parts (and diversity) to surface hidden information opportunities,
* What is our legal filter? (wyoming law and token ethics). Try to make beneficital regulatory environment that allowed for decententralized solutions.
### Strategy

*(The organization, disposition and direction of large scale forces over space and time to achieve the objectives of Policy, maintain homeostasis in a competitive and cooperative environment, and manage growth. Also the set of recognized "patterns of play" known or suspected to produce favorable results when implemented. Strategy is defined by the Executive Team, and implemented by the team leads.)*
**Architecture:** Research, define & evangelize an interoperable, decentralized architecture that prevents vendor lock in when using wallets, keys, and credentials.
**Regulations:** Lobby for, and support, laws & regulations that realize open infrastructure.
**Demand:** Stimulate end-user demand for better best practices in security, privacy, and identity.
**People:** Increase the number of, and demand for, people who understand the professional development, and use, of secure code.
**Finance:** Establish sustainable business models for open infrastructure.
***items that haven't been fitted yet:***
* **Ecosystem:** Increase the perception of the value of Blockchain Commons efforts are valuable (have utility) to those in the ecosystem, and are worthy of participation and engagement.
* Support for others core infrastructure: Tor Exit Nodes, Bitcoin Transcripts
* Security reviews
* apps for the public (Gordian Wallet, QR Safe, etc.) (maybe it is education or demand?)
### Tactics

*(The art of matching the resources of Logistics with Strategy and deploying these effectively and efficiently in the game.Tactics are defined by the team leads, and implemented by the staff)*
**Architecture:**
* Research, define & evangelize an interoperable, decentralized architecture that prevents vendor lock in when using wallets, keys, and credentials
* Create a research platform for capabilities
* Evangelize air gap wallet standards for cryptocurrencies
* Build a reference wallet for cryptocurrencies
* Add decentralized identity to our reference wallets
**Regulations:**
* Lobby for, and support, laws & regulations that realize open infrastructure.
* Help Wyoming establish digital identity based on self-sovereign principles
* Help governments avoid identity systems with vendor lock-in.
**Demand:**
* Stimulate end-user demand for better best practices in security, privacy, and identity.
* Add multi-sig scenarios to Smart Custody course
**People:**
* Increase the number of, and demand for, people who understand the professional development, and use, of secure code.
* Finish second Bitcoin command-line course (with Lightning)
* Establish internships for aspirational secure developers
* Establishing traveling masters program for senior professionals to learn by doing in their field
* Establish externship system for seniors professionals working directly with Blockchain Commons on a short-term project to learn and develop skills
**Finance:**
* Establish sustainable business models for open infrastructure (adding value not extracting rent, growing pie, co-opetition)
### Logistics

*(All of the issues concerning resources, energy and knowledge, and the mechanics of their distribution and storage throughout the Enterprise.)*
### Tasks

*(The work to be done and how it's actually done. Chopping wood and carrying water. The way a tool is used and treated, of course speaks plainly of the philosophy and culture of the user.)*
