# Code of Ethics
###### tags: `article / in process`
Blockchain Commons abides by a simple Code of Ethics, meant to state the spirit of our desire for ethical conduct without muddying those aspirations with convoluted legalese.
Companies requesting a Gordian Seal of Approval also agree to abide by these Ethics and acknowledge that their Gordian Seal of Approval may be withdrawn if they do not.
**We promise to:**
1. **Be Ethical.** We will act in an ethical way to our partners, colleagues, customers, employees, and other peoples with whom we interact. This means that we will act morally and in good faith, with the ultimate goal of creating positive interactions and relationships that benefit us all.
1. **Be Good Community Members.** We will respect other members of the blockchain community and act ethically toward them even if they are competitors. We will support the growth and betterment of our community so much as we can without compromising our own vision.
1. **Listen to Others.** We will listen to criticism, suggestions, and opinions from our community, from our partners, and from our users, and we will give them a fair airing.
1. **Put the Users First.** We will treat users as people first, with human dignity, and we will ensure that our software preserves the inalienable rights of those people. We will always keep the user in mind in our designs, and we will support not just the highest paying users, but, to the extent possible, all users, especially those with less power.
1. **Support the Gordian Principles.** We will abide by the spirit of the Gordian principles, supporting the independence of our users, the resilience of their assets, and the openness of our ecosystem.
