# ADA 2022 TA hours introduction

## When do we have TA hours?

The schedule of the TA hours is placed on the "calendar" feature of NTU COOL. You can access it from the side navigation menu.

## Where can I join TA hours?

You can click on the TA hour you want to join in the COOL's calendar.

If a TA holds an TA hour online, the location will always be **Gather Town**.

## How to ask questions in TA hours?

The following is also essential when you ask a question via [e-mail]. Please keep this in mind.

#### General policy

From a teaching point of view, we cannot tell the answer directly to students.

What we will try to do is guide you to think and come to the answer yourself.

So, do not ask questions like the following:
- What is the solution to this problem?
- Am I doing this right? (by showing your assignment directly to the TA)

Instead, you can:
- I am suffered from this problem. **I observed ... and tried ...** but still can't find a correct way to solve it. What am I missing？
- **I use ...** to solve this problem. However, I think **the part of ...** is kind of complex. Can TA give me some suggestions to simplify it?
- (not recommend) I really don't have any idea about this problem. Can TA give me a **hint**?

#### Debugging

Oh no! There is bug in my code!

Due to our plagiarism policy, students are strictly prohibited from seeing each other's codes.

Hence, you may want to call for TA to help you debug.

However, **it is very hard** for anyone to read your code with no explanation. Please, briefly describe your algorithm idea and what you want to achieve. Allows TA to quickly get into the situation and understand what you're writing.

**We reserve the right to refuse to answer if you do not provide any explanation.**

## What if a TA changes his/her TA hour?

We have the TA hour changing policy.

- If a TA wants to change the time/location of a TA hour, it should modify the event on the COOL calendar **at least 2 days** before both the new and the old time.
- If a TA cannot change the schedule within the time limit specified in the previous rule, it should **make an announcement** on COOL.
- Please take care of the announcements!

## Where is TA?

If a TA does not appear in its duty time, you can notify us via [e-mail].
