# Offerings and Pantheons This system is a attempt for the chaplain to have a gameplay loop beyond RP and effectively being a supernatural validhunter, giving them a universal goal to have regardless of the round. Newer player typically go to service first and having a unclear goal for one of these jobs should probably be rectified. I've tried to keep this document somewhat broad so player and dev stuff can mold the rest of it lmk if that's a bad idea. ## Offering System Offerings would be done at a braizer which would be located in the chapel, this starting brazier would be locked to the chaplain, but braziers usable by anyone would be purchasable at cargo. Offerings can be many different items, but occult items, as well as high quality food, drinks and produce would be the most efficent, along with more particular and specific ones based on the pantheon. The offering would increase the faith of the pantheon and be used as a currency known as "power". Faith for the chaplain's pantheon has the preexisting benefits to it as well (additional bible heal and passively gains by people being in chapel). Having thematic surroundings could also aid with the effectiveness. Another goal with the offering system is to get chaplain which is disconnected from the interaction that the catering and custodial part of service has and have them be a viable output for excess food and drink with a lack of customers. ### Goals * Give chaplains the ability to become a part of the produce chain that catering has to connect it more within the department. * Have something a community can pitch into to grow a common goal (the pantheon) * Give Chaplain a proper gameplay loop on Classic. ### Non-Goals * Give a outlet too valuable for culinary resources to warrant actually feeding people * Easy disposal method of valuables through sacrifice ### Alternatives * Seeing this is only the engine of the system, only thing I can think of is making offerings extremely specific if too abused or scaling too fast. * Not using faith as a supplement could be a way to nerf if pantheons are being rushed too quickly ## Pantheons Pantheons are options for how a chaplain can progress and decide on the direction of their faith. The scope of the initial pantheons will be a simple default "divine" one representing standard religions, then ones based on the unique clothing options added with the chapel vendor. Pantheons would be selected on the first usage of the brazier, and it would change its appearance according to the decision. A consumable for the owner to reset it could be a considerable option too. Pantheon power would be used to sustain and initally power up rituals. The brazier will give visual indications relating to how much the rituals are pulling in regards to any income sources using its flame. Induction would be done by anyone who volunteers at the brazier (maybe done through ritual), braziers would start on a blacklist mode, with people only dissallowed if the leader excommunicates them. A pantheon can be made private and on a whitelist by the pantheon leader (mainly so antag chaplains aren't fighting people with the same benefits). ### Goals * Create a reward system for the chaplain's new gameplay loop. * Have that system draw in community members like a current chaplain's sermons and events ### Non-Goals * "click button for power", with people then entirely fucking off but then again cloning can be kinda neglected so this might not be as much of a concern as I see it. Could lock some benefits behind ritual participation. * Give a antag chaplain more power but cause everyone has that power nothing really changed. "If everyone's special, noone is." - Syndrome ### Alternatives * Have passives for members (e.g. slight fire resistance for members, major/heavy firesuit level for leader for pyro pantheon) (ritual participation) * Make item obtainment mainly ritual based (could make catering less involved) ## Rituals Rituals are either an arrangement during a specific offering, or very related to the pantheon. These could trigger an allow certain items to be purchasable at the brazier, upgrade or create items, edit terrain or grant passive bonuses to the pantheon worshippers. This system would be very specific to the specific pantheon chosen. Rituals would involve typically putting items either created by a unique brazier purchasable material in a correct configuration, sacrificing something related to the pantheon (e.g. A plant meeting a stat threshold). Could also involve keywords in a similar manner to halloween rituals. The base system for rituals would be based off the soon to be migrated out of secret system. It would use mainly brazier claimed materials/structures with unique ritual cores. Items such a pylons and pedestals etc. would be be the bread and butter of the standard ritual systems (unique ritual methods would exist but be pantheon exclusive). The core like the old system would be the centrepiece. Pylons would be pillars arranged around the core and mainly serve as simple filters on what the ritual is from their placement relative to the core Imbuers would be optable/tables which work as a place to put the mob/object that's being effected by a ritual Pedestals would hold materials that are consumed in a ritual. A unique type of pylon known as a Menacing Pylon would be a pylon that grants access to very dangerous rituals and would be a chaplain traitor item. It'd appear like the pantheon's standard pylons until its ritual is activated. Rituals would have three different subtypes: Standard, Channeled and Consumable. Standard rituals would be an array of objects, and with the right participation does a function when supplied with the right materials/mobs. Channeled would grant effects forever after its activation as long as the structure remains intact. Consumable rituals would have parts of the ritual structure need to be adjusted or replaced after each use. ### Base Rituals #### Faith Sidegrades Each pantheon would have a early ritual that'd sidegrade faith to a pantheon specific variant. This could be also changed to on pantheon selection. ### Goals * Create engaging reasons for people go get involved after signing up. * Create unique ways to get loot to make different pantheons appeal more to repeat chaplains ### Non-Goals * Lock too much content off additional worshippers needing to be present. * Make item obtainment tedious and repetitive ### Alternatives * More options in point purchases * Lock rituals to certain tiers * Have channeling rituals have a point cost to maintain ## Pantheon Types ### Divine Pantheon This represents the default pantheon and acts as a general "standard religion" for its representation. The censer from chaplain additions player project could be a good addition, this pantheon should have general faith based items as its rewards. Don't want too much religions attire too maybe pendants or something. Incense burning, herbalism, with their strongest ritual being a resurrection ritual as a cloning alternative. ### Burned Pantheon The burned pantheon has a very obvious ritual theme. incineration, pyres. Rewards for this pantheon would be a flare shot channeled like a macrophaser for members and a fireball channeled in the same way for chaplain, this would have a visual indicator of a orange ring around the body during channel and would be vulnerable to fire suppresants during channeling, causing a stun. If this is too powerful, and same for all combat options, it can deal marginal damage to everything that isn't a supernatural antagonist. A flaming dagger for members and a sword for the leader could also be a good reward item. A Rotisserie could fit but seems a bit too much like a gag item that'd just get passed onto the chef if not done right. In order to not have a complete combat theme, possible engine/cooking benefits? ### Outlander Pantheon This is based off the weird set, which I am connecting with the outlander's book as its very similar to the weird set. Rituals here would mainly involve sending people to the outlands to scavenge for their loot. This would be similar to a terrainified planetary area with alien plants.(this part seems really hard and a massive victim of scope creep, I'll see how far I get with grafted planet code) ### Drowned Pantheon Call of Cthulhu inspired pantheon, based off the lost horror set. Rituals could summon eldritch artifacts, warp people's limbs into eldritch forms. Warped style Lovecraftian rituals would be thematic, along with water. ### Light Pantheon Light Pantheon ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/S1TPgznmke.png) Light would help greatly as the terrain benefit. I'm a bit worried this could clash a bit with divine for benefits though. Passive light source would be a good benefit though. This could have a reskinned nukie laser missile pointer but for wiz lightning for this or divine too. Light pantheons for their channeling rituals would have PTL beams refracting and going across different mirrors, each capable of modifying the Red, Green or Blue value of the colour's hex depending on the mirror. Beams that cross eachother would average out their Hex values. The goal is to reflect rainbow colours into a central point, each colour would have a different effect, effected by accuracy to the colour and simultaneous colours would grant the effects of all reflected into the final point. For example yellow would grant access to a smaller standard ritual that'd grant a ability that'd summon a wisp that follow them which'd act as a better flashlight, with light power proportional to the accuracy the light ritual had to proper yellow. If this system is too abused randomised hex values with identically spaced intervals could be a alternative to make the optimal method different each shift. ### Nature Pantheon This pantheon would benefit from grass floors and plants being in the chapel, perhaps the ability to make a jack-of-all-trades chem for plant stats? Creating benign kudzu could also be a ability option for this pantheon. The photosynthesis ability for synthchickens would be amazing for this but uuhhh secret repo. The unique rituals for this would involve a mold maze puzzle, looking for the most optimal way to grow through a pattern. ### ? oops misclick ### Honkmother Pantheon not in scope of inital creation.
