## Reflection on [Agnotology and epistemological fragmentation](https://points.datasociety.net/agnotology-and-epistemological-fragmentation-56aa3c509c6b)
Danah Boyd expresses the idea that we are creating new ideas and innovations to access knowledge, we are also being plagued by the constant access to technology.
To introduce her concept, Boyd describes the term epistemology which is the notion of how we know the information that we are concious of. She then suggests the thought that ignorance could be purposely created by the wealth or the term agnotology.

There's a theory that there is purposeful and intentional spread of doubts to divide society. The example provided was a college student who wants to learn more about social justice but instead, goes down the rabbit hole and learns what may possibly be the opposite of social justice due to piqued curiousity. The student's research may then influence their idea and cause a shift in their view.

The doubtful and controversial content are made easier to access than factual and scientific information. These type of information are then publish on news media causing more division within one another. For instance, the author believes that even the creation of sides is a political project.
To conclude, we need to be mindful of the information that we are seeking and learning on a day-to-day basis. Some news may be curated to cause a division and/or cloud our field of thoughts. Boyd emphasizes the need to have credible sources for people to make rational and informed decisions.
