## Gorlex Maruaders
I am a Maruader.
I fight for might.
I fight for right.
Part of those who go knock at the night.
They ask who I am I say "qui-et.".
For those stay quiet, live to see the sun shine bright.
I am a Maruader.
And those who challenge me sleep tight.
— The Maruader's creed
Gorlex Security Consulting, LLC., informally/originally known as the Gorlex Marauders is a private military company and security contractor, headquartered on the moon of Mars, Deimos.
Founded in the year [FUCK DATES], "the Marauders" were a loose-nit group of space pirates, who made profits off of the hijacking and stealing cargo freighters in transit. Originally founded by Nikora Schoonover, they became known for their loud, brash style of hijacking, earning them a spotlight that other, quieter pirate groups lacked. This found attention quickly caught up to them, and they were attached with an enemy of the Federation tag in 2503.
On [DATE I CANNOT GIVE]. サイバサン, K.K. (Sabiasun, Inc. / Cybersun, Inc.) had begun their hostile takeover as the forefront technological corporation, attempting to outclass Nanotrasen, Inc. Despite a somewhat robust legal strategy, Cybersun was aware that due to Nanotrasen's strangle-hold on Federation officials and governmental figures. That any economic or legal action would be short-lived. Along side these events, the Gorlex Marauders happened to be waning on power, a result of a multi-pronged attack launched by both the Federation and Nanotrasen forces.
Sensing a need for a more direct, and loud approach to take down Nanotrasen, Cybersun approached the remaining marauders with an offer to help incorporate them into a proper military contractor, with a rider that they helped them out. When approached with this, many marauders protested, feeling it better to die as their own force, then as live as a puppet. This resulting feud caused a split in the group, where many a marauder left to create numerous splinter pirating group. However, most of these splinters died soon after, mostly either due to in-fighting or Federation/Nanotrasen attacks.
Sensing the inevitability of destruction within their current situation, Schoonover accepted Cybersun's offer. Turning the marauders into Gorlex Security Consulting, LLC.

### Gorlex in the Current Day
Nowadays, Gorlex exists as the premier military body of the Syndicate. Doing whatever grunt work is needed to make sure that whatever is needed dead is dead. However, their methods are often characterised as borderline terroristic and butcher-like. Public executions, direct action, bombings, etc.
These actions cast a shadow over the group, but also earn them a special reputation as a reliable, if cruel group. Leading to several, private contracts with other corporations, countries, and groups, even those outside of the Syndicate bloc.
Accusations of terrorism is a large part of Gorlex's public image, and though they are not publicly known as, or declared a terrorist/pirate group. Nanotrasen PR likes to paint them as such, both to it's own employees, and the general public. This, as such, allows the insertion of a belief that the Syndicate as a whole are no better then gun-toting maniacs, allowing a better grip on it's employees to keep them from defecting.

### Leadership
Whilst nominally an independent company, Gorlex's shares are largely owned by Cybersun and it's shell corps, allowing them to be swayed back and forth with relative ease by the Japanese corporation. Most of the time however, the Company is allowed to live and operate on it's own merits, with Cybersun intervention kept mostly on a short leash.
Gorlex Security Consulting is headquartered on the moon Deimos, and as such, their primary command structure is also located there. This command structure/group is hence known as "High Command" or HIGHCOMM.
Gorlex relies on a very ad-hoc and objective oriented command structure (*Auftragstaktik*), as opposed to a top-down structured command system. Colonels and Captains are generally allowed to do whatever is required, and whatever they feel is right in order to complete their objective. With High Command only getting annoyed when these sort of ad-hoc decisions fail.[^1]
The current CEO/Field Commander of Gorlex is Johnny Folsom, a veteran of the Federation/Venus Separatists Uprising, who defected to the original marauders.
The following are a non-exhaustive list of Gorlex High Command members which are known:
- Johnny Folsom, CEO.
- Kees Schreurs, President.
- Arch Edison, Major General, Vice President of Operations.
- Yohannes Julla, General of the Marauder Corps
#### Ranks / Grades
Quintessential to all military-esque organisations is a rank structure. Gorlex, as such has one. Broken into three separate paths, for each corresponding branch of personnel.
It is worth noting though, that all ranks besides senior officers, are combat roles, and rank generally only comes into effect with regards to in-base activities. On-field decisions are generally called by the highest-ranking officer.
Enlisted positions:
- Pvt., Specialist, Sgt.
Officers:
- Lt., Colonel/Captain.
Senior Officers:
- Brigadier General, Major General, General.

### The Marauder Corps
The bread and butter troops of Gorlex and it's largest part due to sheer numbers alone. Nominally made up of numerous infantry, support, pilots, and other miscellaneous staff and personnel. These forces are the ones that usually make up the bulk of security contracting work, and carry the most presence aboard space-faring vessels.
As a fault of being the biggest part of Gorlex Security Consulting, the name "The Marauder Corps" has since become a synonym for the company as a whole.
The following is a non-extensive list of the numerous divisions, regiments, and units that make up the Corps:
- Headquarters, Gorlex Forces Command | Firebase Voltaire
- 1st Infantry Battalion ("Ankle Grinders") | Firebase Voltaire
- 4th Naval Group ("Schnoover's Sailors") | GBC Starfury[^2]
- Support Company Zulu | N/A

### Strike Team(s)
Tip of the spear, so to say. Strike Teams are a separate, unique part of Gorlex Security Consulting, despite a mental fusion/confusion with the Corps. Usually up made of infantry selected by higher-ups within the company or those who apply and then pass selection; these teams, that range from anywhere to 8 people, to as high as 100, are the Tier 1 forces of the Company and are responsible for handling most of Gorlex (and hence the Syndicate's) wetwork. Generally, those selected to be a part of Strike Teams are ex-military.
Unlike those in the Marauder Corps, troops within Strike Teams are referred to by the title of their Strike Team, I.E. Callsign: Raven 1-06, used in sentence as: `"All Ravens, this is Raven 1-06, how copy."`
Strike Teams are generally sent out by Gorlex High Command, but are still able to be rented for private use, usually with absorbent fees attached.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of Strike Teams:
- Strike Team Blackbird | Firebase Balthazord[^3]
- Strike Team Raven | Firebase Voltaire
- Strike Team Magpie | Firebase Clustril
- Strike Team Shadow | Cybersun/Sabiasun Headquarters, Hong Kong

### Culture
Since it's inception as a pirate force, the culture around Gorlex has been one of efficiency and relative carelessness. Bastardisation[^4] is commonplace among forces and especially against recruits, a somewhat regular occurrence is to throw a person into lava or a bonfire with their suit on, in hopes to get them to "get used" to having their suit on in uncomfortable environments.
However, a focus on "efficiency" has resulted in crossing into what can only be described as ruthlessness. Rules of Engagement are purposefully vague to allow marauders to stretch their definitions and restrictions to suit their needs, and the resulting civilian deaths are either disregarded or revelled in by what can only be described as psychopathic troops.
As a another vestige of their pirating roots, instead of "troops" or "soldiers", all combat forces within Gorlex are instead called "Marauders", even those not directly part of the Marauder Corps.
Commonplace within the company is a fear of retaliation from superiors, as often punishment for insubordination is execution. As such, Marauders often follow orders regardless of it's sincerity or it's ability to be achieved.

### Weaponry and Gear
Ever since the beginning, the Marauders had a disdain for laser/energy weaponry. Schoonover is quoting as calling energy weapons; *"A glorified lightstick, that is reliable as a pair of crocs with shit in the treads."*
As such, either due to tradition or an unwillingness to "evolve", Gorlex Security Consulting still uses majority ballistic weaponry. Secured through contracts with some of the major weapon manufacturers--Waffle Corp, DONK, Aussec, and Scarborough--, the tier of weaponry used are those of high-grade milspec rating, with first choice given to the Strike Teams.
However, guns aren't the only weapons used by/given to the marauders, numerous miscellaneous weapons are given to them, most notably the DONK Energy Sword and Energy Shield, a weapon numerous operatives have taken a liking to, despite the risk involved in using them.
Gear has been a steadily evolving subject within the Company, starting off with very little actual armour to their names, all their gear and PPE is now manufactured by Sabiasun under contract. The new Blood-Red modular environment suits, which are custom-made to personnel responsibilities, are modified versions of Sabiasun's own "elite suit", a high-tech corporate suit, used by senior Sabiasun officials, and Sabiasun's own, private, military force.
The following is a non-extensive list of weaponry used by Gorlex:
- M90-GL / M90-SOCOM | .244 Orcus | WaffleCorp | A high-calibre full-length battle rifle, adoptated as the main rifleman weapon in the year [FUCK DATES]. Contained within the heat-shield is an integrated 40 millimeter grenade launcher, loaded from a special compartment within the magazine. Originally an attempt by Waffle Corp to win the contract for the new Federation service rifle, but the cost-per-unit was too high for the Federation. However, per their specific request, a contract to manufacture for the Company was soon signed.
- C-20ᴿ / EC-20ᴿ | 460. Ceres | Scarborough Arms | A mid-length sub-machinegun bullpup. Originally the Company's main service weapon, however developments in body-armour has caused it to be phased out in favour of the M90 with it's higher calibre. It currently serves as the main service weapon for support troops, due it's relative light-weight.
- L6 Heavy Assualt | 7.12x82mm | Aussec Armoury | A classic weapon which has been used within the Company for upwards of 20 years. It has remained the pinnacle and love-child of auto riflemen for as long as it's been used, mostly due to it's earth-shattering bullet, and consistent rate of fire. Originally developed in 2531 by Aussec Armoury for military forces, it's design has remained steady for as long as it's lived, with only minor aesthetic and function changes in the recent years.

### Public Relations
Public Relations for Private Contractors has never been the priority; they are, of course, the mule for abuse that bigger, "cleaner", companies like to use. However, you can't get contracts and new recruits by being known, exclusively, as "the bad guys".
With help and collaboration from Sabiasun, Gorlex's advertisements now light-up city streets. Bright-red neon shining down upon people, whilst it's budget can nowhere near compete with it's more commercially-viable partners and enemies, it's existence is known, well enough so to get contracts.
It's advertising appeals to a certain... demographic. Young men, mostly. Fresh and ready to be molded. "Find Action, Find Yourself."; "Serve the Company; Serve Yourself."; "Innovating in Combat, Every Step of the Way."; are all tag-lines and catchphrases used to entice those who wouldn't dare read a book to get a job in the science sector. As well, they serve to lure-in disaffected veterans of TerraGov Peacekeepers, unhappy with Public Service, and wishing they were treated just a *bit* kinder.
#### Cho Agryboda / Ketsueki Hebi
Cho was once a drop-out from the lower-area of Mars; a punk, less focused on studies and making an actual future for herself, then she was about hanging-around, and sports- an industry that had already been superseded by virtual experiences long ago. In need of money, and desperate to prove herself, she chose to sign-up for Gorlex, despite warnings from others around her.
Unfortunately for her, or well, maybe fortunately, PT and Basic Training was far too much. Whilst considering herself "hard", pure exposure to action of that level had caused her to waver; she's thought too highly of herself.
But, there was an out. Gorlex was suffering from a PR nightmare, an operation within the TerraGov International District of Hong Kong and Macau had gone awry, and split out onto the streets below, causing numerous collateral damages. Needing a way to improve recruitment numbers against the onslaught of negative PR and competition of other Private Contractors. They asked Cho if she would be willing to server as a "mascot" of sorts, or, in Asian terms, an Idol.
Despite apprehension due to her previous rebellious nature, she accepted, and became the face of Gorlex's Enlisted troops.
Renamed to Ketsueki Hebi, old Japanese for "Blood Snake", she's now the human face of the corporation, appearing in press conferences to woo audiences, doing "concerts", and advertising recruitment to new, fresh faces.

#### The Blood-Red Suit
Born out of need, the Blood-Red Suit, or, known by it's official designation the "Enhanced Extra-Vehicular-Activity Combat Suit, Model #14", is a unique modification of an old Waffle Corporation design. Changed to an infamous blood-red colouring, and the addition of extra cameras for better vision (commonly referred to as "lights").
Nowadays, the redsuit, has become a symbol of the Syndicate en bloc. The infamous green light, and dehumanising design striking fear into those that see it.
...Even though it's not even all red.
