# Earth MC Town Management Basic Guide ## How to Create a Town 1. Put 64g in an Ender Chest and go to the wilderness. 2. Leave your current town by typing `/t leave` -> `/confirm`. 3. Create a new town with `/t new [town name]`. ## How to Expand Your Town 1. At the `/t spawn` plot, deposit gold into your town bank using `/t deposit [amount]`. - 16g is required per chunk. 3. Go to the wilderness adjacent to your town's claim and do `/t claim`. ### Town Territory Limits A town can expand up to 12 chunks per resident, including the mayor. You can invite people with `/t invite [name]` to increase the limit. If you belong to a nation, the national bonus, based on the nation's population, will further increase your limit. If your nation has over 200 people, your limit increases by 100 chunks. > As of June 2024, Mali's Nation Bonus is the maximum of 100. > If you belong to Mali, you can also use the invitation tool. Check Mali's Discord for more details. ### Overclaim If your population decreases or you leave a nation, your territory limit will drop. If your town's size exceeds the limit, there is a risk of losing territory by overclaimed by other towns. You can protect your town by enabling overclaim protection with `/t toggle overclaimshield on` at a cost of 1g per day for every 4 exceed chunks. ## Frequently Used Commands ### /towny map hud - Displays information about surrounding chunks on the HUD at the center-right of the screen. ![2024-06-06_160215](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BkaLAxJB0.png) ``` Note: This command is disabled after 1.20.4 update. use " /towny map " instead. ``` ### /plot perm hud - Displays the permission information of the current chunk on the HUD at the center-right of the screen. - Use `/plot perm` to display detailed permission information of the current chunk. - The letters next to permissions like Build and Destroy indicate who has the permission: `r:residents / n:nation members / a:allies / o:everyone / f:friends / t:townees`. - For example, `Switch:rn--` means only residents and nation members can use switches (chests, doors, minecarts, etc.) in that chunk. ![2024-06-06_181624](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SJQO0gkBA.png) ``` Note: This command is disabled after 1.20.4 update. use " /plot perm " instead. ``` ### /t deposit [amount] - Deposit gold into your town's bank. - Necessary for expanding your town. - Can only be used in the Homeblock (/t spawn chunk) or bank plot. ### /t withdraw [amount] - Withdraw gold from your town's bank. - Only the mayor or councillors can use this command. - Can only be used in the Homeblock (cunk of /t spawn) or bank plot. ### /t claim - Claim wilderness as town territory by spending 16G from the town bank. - Can only be used in the wilderness adjacent to town territory. - Once the town size exceeds 5 chunks, at least 3 of the surrounding 8 chunks must be town territory to claim a new chunk (Anti-Claim Arm Rule). ### /t unclaim - Abandon town territory and return it to the wilderness. The spent money is not refunded. - If unclaiming results in violating the Anti-Claim Arm Rule, unclaiming is not allowed. ### /t toggle public on - Allow anyone from the same nation to /t spawn for free. ### /t toggle outsiderscanspawn on - Allow anyone, including those from other nations, to /t spawn. - Costs 3g per day from the town bank if enabled. ### /plot fs [amount] - Put the current chunk up for sale for town residents to purchase. - Generally, give new residents one chunk for free with /plot fs 0. ### /plot set shop - Allow creating a shop in the current chunk. ### /plot set inn - Set the current chunk as an inn. - Placing a bed nd using it allows anyone to /home and teleport there. ### /plot set embassy - Set the current chunk as an embassy and put it up for sale with /plot forsale, allowing non-residents to purchase it. ## Dangerous Commands Sometimes people may say "use this command and I'll give you money." If you are tricked into executing these commands, **you can lose everything in an instant**. Be very cautious. If someone you don't know talks about commands, assume it's 100% a scam. ### /t set perm on, /plot set perm on - Give all permissions to everyone of the town or the current plot. Executing this command means **everything in the town or plot can be stolen**. ### /t forsale [amount] - Put the town up for sale. Anyone can become the mayor with /t buytown. ### /t set mayor [name] - Appoint the specified person as mayor. Only use it when you truly want to transfer the town to someone else. ### /t trust add [name], /plot trust add [name] - Give the specified person permissions for the entire town or current plot. The specified person can build, destroy, and do anything. Only use this command for people you truly trust. ### /t toggle pvp on, /plot toggle pvp on - Enable PvP in the town or plot. Unintentionally enabling this can make it dangerous as you can be killed in town. ### /t toggle explosion on, /plot toggle explosion on - Enable explosions in the town or plot. Unintentionally enabling this can make it dangerous as TNT can be fired into the town from outside, causing destruction. ### /res friend add [name] - Give a player permissions for the plot you own. That player can build, destroy, and do anything. Only use this command for people you truly trust. ## Creating a Nation You can create a nation with 2048g, but currently, the benefits are small and the disadvantages are significant. **Unless you have a strong desire to create your own nation** and the **ability to gather a large number of people and golds**, it is **not recommended**. Creating a nation allows the use of `/n spawn`, but you lose the Nation Bonus, and your territory limit decreases. If you can maintain a large population, it's fine, but now you can set it up for anyone to use /t spawn for just 3g per day, and failing to maintain the population increases the risk of overclaims. Even Mali's main members, who once had over five small colonies worldwide, have disbanded their nations and moved to towns belonging to Mali due to the difficulty of maintaining them. ## Quarter Settings The Quarters feature allows for more detailed partitioning than chunks, giving partial permissions. - Create an apartment-like building and allow one resident per room. - Manage permissions for areas spanning multiple chunks. - Provide shared chests for residents in specific areas. ### Basic Usage 1. Hold a flint and click point 1. 2. Right-click point 2. 3. Add the selected area with /q selection add. 4. Create the quarter with /q create. Once a quarter is created, you can manage it with the following commands: - /q here: Check quarter information. - /q sell [amount]: Put the quarter up for sale. - /q trust add [name]: Grant permissions to the specified person. - /q type commons: Allow all town residents to use switches (chests, doors, etc.) in the quarter. - /q toggle embassy: Allow people to use or purchase commons even if they are not residents of the town. - /q delete: Delete the quarter.
