# Content of event
The event will be entirely *virtual* so everything will exist in some kind of online space (recorded videos, live chat thread, live streaming)
## Tech
StreamYard will give us the most flexibility for including both prerecorded and live content. We can pay for a single month ($30 - $300 depending on our needs) as a one-time conference expense.
## Fave ideas
These are things I absolutely want to do.
### 1. Community Lightning talks
- 5 minute Looms (free plan allows for this)
- Can receive unlimited quantity
- no need for proposal, just make and submit
- we'll air our favourite ones (if too many to choose all)
- we'll make the rest available on the site after the fact
- Can be broad in scope
- demo/announcement of something you've built with Astro
- personal essay on being a part of Astro
- how Astro solved a problem
- how Astro "scratched an itch"
- speed run of doing something with Astro
- related topics also appropriate for our audience:
- mental/physical health strategies for programmers
- "chair yoga"
- show off your ergonomic keyboard
- how to have productive conversations
- open-source topics
- giving async code/PR reviews
- filing kick-ass issues that help the maintainers
- working remotely
- how to social with your remote team
- how to keep focused / not work too much when your laptop is in your living room
- personal stories
- how I got into open-source
- how I started contributing to Astro
### 2. Live chat stream
The most important participatory element of anything happening online
#### Tech/where?
- Ask ViteConf how YouTube livestream was mirrored to Discord?
- Chat in Discord or on YouTube?
#### Moderation
- need people monitoring for conduct/abuse/vibes
- need people seeding the discussion, hyping the crowd
- prepare with types of questions/statements:
- What's your top takeaway from this?
- How will this change how you work/live/plan/behave?
- "Whoa! So cool! Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?"
- need people to control/run StreamYard
- play videos
- invite people to stage
- coordinate with live speakers in remote locations
### 3. Promotions/Giveaways
- Action-based giveaways/rewards
- Tweet/post to receive something
- Vote / respond to receive something
- Register to receive something
- Attend to receive something
- Comment to receive something
- Answer question correctly to receive something
- Can be in advance (as conf promotion) or during (for conf vibes)
- Can be *everyone* who does X gets Y, or gets entered to win Y
- **Speakers also hold giveaways in advance as promotion to their audiences?**
## Other Ideas
### Cool site showcase
- Can be as simple as reviewing the last year's worth of monthly blog posts and scanning the personal sites sections to choose noteworthy candidates ahead of time
- Can be done live (Astrolicious? hosts?) like community call in small batches (2 - 3 at a time) to add variety
- emphasize on showing off how Astro is used (view transitions, animation, perf, volume/scale of content/data) and/or how Astro "makes the web weird/fun/useful" (e.g. word games built with Astro, GenderSwap)
### From core/maintainers
- "State of Astro" keynote by Fred
- Where Astro is now, where it's going
- very high level, motivation-y
- "Astro Internals" / Deep Dive content
- compiler walk through
- dev tools walk through (e.g. how Volar is included)
- Contributing Speed Run
- Set up dev environment
- create tests
- Workshops (live coding? code-along?)
- Florian: Astro Integration Kit
- Martin: View Transitions
- Ben: Cool Content Collections / DB
- Behind the scenes stories (planned? Q and A?) from Astro Core
- Maintainer origin stories
- Description of role/typical day
### From invited/known people
- Big Name Friends
- talks about their use of Astro
- live stream building something with Astro
- Panel Discussion
- topics related to Astro, open-source
- Community Talks from other project maintainers
- adding auth with Clerk/Lucia
- improving performance with Astro Font
- Astronaut Launchpad
- a dedicated slot for developers to announce / introduce new projects of their own. A bit like a [Nintendo Direct (partner showcase)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9y1AXICddE).
### From community (can also be known people)
- Showcase of cool things built (submission process?)
- To show the scale/breadth
- "Big" sites, unusual sites/apps
- Similar to lightning talks, but *hosts* speak/review (like community call)
- Community Interviews
- The Lightning Talk idea/strategy, but conducted as interviews/response to questions
- Can be done live, recorded with an interviewer, or prerecorded responses to set questions (that either standalone, or can have questions cut into them)
